Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

oh yes Caroline.. I have a recipe I put together for that too.. this is what we like.. I put the batter in a canning jar and keep it in the fridge..

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

1 c butter, melted
peel of 1 lemon in with butter
2 c dk brown sugar ~ 1 pound
1/2 t cloves
1/4 t allspice
1 t cinnamon
1 t vanilla
1 t nutmeg

Thanks for sharing this, Jodie!! I have seen the premixed hot buttered rum at stores, but it is always so full of chemicals and preservatives that I just passed on it. This will be so great to make up and have on hand for all the relatives who are arriving next week. The nice thing about this is that the younger crowd can have the same drink sans rum and they feel like part of the fun!

Theresa, how beautiful your new home is! I love the southwest. My sister has a home in Arizona, and when I visited her I simply fell in love with the desert.

Have you read much about Fr. Eusebio Kino? I think he was mainly in AZ, but he was an amazing missionary and priest.

the box lists "natural eggnog flavor" (IS there such a thing?)

If there is I need to find it and buy it so that I can add it to my coffee all year. (Though I don't like Starbucks' eggnog latte so maybe that's not a great idea.)

Cookies look scrumptious, Stef. And how do you make peppermint marshmallows?? (Only tell me if it's easy...)

Jenny, Ponche de Frutas sounds intriguing! Does it have cinnamon fruit punch flavor or ?

(edited to add that I saw you said it had a cider flavor, but it's hard to imagine something with that variety tasting like apple cider. I'm not a big fan of cider...)

Oh, the most wonderful surprise just showed up here! My dd drove up from VA tonight! She wasn't supposed to come up until tomorrow, but she just knocked on the door. Of course, dh was in on the surprise...so, got to go!

Wonderful chatting with you all!

I just had to say, Jodie, I !! when I saw the tub. Here I was thinking, as I was scrolling, it was going to be a pic of another gorgeous regency period person...

The punch is much sweeter than apple cider and the best part is you can eat the fruit at the bottom of your drink .

I've been intriqued by this whole eggnog tea mentioned. So I just found this. Is this what your drinking? Have to admit there are to many pages to try to search where this got started . I love my flavored teas so I think I just found a new site to buy from!!

This was very neat ladies! But I've got six hungry kiddies asking for PB&J.

I'll try to pop in later .

Ooh that punch does sound good and love fruit at the bottom.

What a wonderful treat for Caroline!

I'm going to pop out for a while too. I've got a migraine (on account of all the sweets I've eaten here, I'm sure...). Gonna see if a hot shower will help and then need to encourage littles to head to bed. Hope to pop back later.

Didn't answer the "I hope" question earlier. I HOPE that my dad's heart valve replacement goes well. He's scheduled for surgery on Dec. 28th. Gonna go post a prayer request while I'm thinking about it.

Oh, I hope so, too. Will add him to my prayers.

All of you who did something easy tonight - PB&J, cereal, left overs - Wish I had done that. Just now getting back here after dinner.

Oh speaking of hot drinks and eggnog.. I didn't know it until I tried some last year.. but Tom and Jerry's are like a hot egg nog.. but they're old fashioned enough that you don't hear about them anymore. But you can still buy the mix.

These are big at my in-laws still. My fil, Jerry, likes his Tom & Jerry's. I actually don't mind them so maybe I do like hot eggnog...

Here is his Tom & Jerry recipe:

6 eggs
1/2 t. allspice
1/2 t. cloves
1 t. cinnamon
1/4 lb. brown sugar
Enough powdered sugar to make batter the right consistency (about 1 lb.)

Separate white from yolks, beat separately until yolks are light in color. Beat whites until they stand in peaks. Mix together with other ingredients.

Use 1 - 1 1/2 T. batter per cup (6 or 8 oz size). 1 jigger of bourbon, brandy, or rum per cup. Add hot water, sprinkle with mace or nutmeg.

Drink fast and ask for another!! (that's my fil's ending comment on our recipe card )

Oh, I am sorry to miss all the 10 pages of fun! Dh wants to watch a movie, so I'm just going to take a doggie bag of these cyber treats and share with dh (and warm myself up, since we've had no heat all day. But now we have a new HVAC, so my toes are defrosting).

Just wanted to say hi and bye!

OK, everyone pile on Jenn's couch, we're gonna watch a movie!

Seriously, though, sorry you can't stay!

That was a favorite movie of mine!! I can break into that southern accent at will!

...and I guess that makes me old, too.
