I took her to the ER and they admitted her. She's in the peds ward on an IV trying to get stable. Tim is staying the night with her and sent me home because I am not feeling well either.
Please keep her in your prayers. They had a horrible time getting the IV in and in the end had to put it in at her elbow which means she can't even bend her arm. Her color is better and her face has filled out (she was dehydrated) but she is still nauseous even with the Zofran.
I am exhausted. Everyone was very nice but unless a Dr. specializes in type 1 diabetes they really don't know what to do. At one point they came in to get her for an x-ray and I asked why. All they knew was the dr. ordered it so I said "let me talk to the dr. first." So he comes in and says "well I thought we should look at her chest to make sure she doesn't have any pulmonary stuff going on." Mind you she has no congestion or anything, she has a stomach virus not a cold. I said "did you hear something?" He said "no" so I said "no x-ray"! Geesh like the child doesn't have enough problems without them unecessarily shooting radiation at her (she's highly sensitive to anything like that --even wireless internet will shoot her blood sugar up very high).
So I get out to my car and there's a $25 ticket on it. Tim had parked it on the street which we thought would be fine --not.
Thank you for the prayers! I have to tell you what a blessing yoy all are to me. I came home to dozens of prayer messages.

Merciful heavens, Michele!!!!!!!!
I'm glad Maggie's admitted and that IV is rolling! What a totally stressful day! Prayers that tonight is corner-turning in a good way for Maggie, that both you and she get some rest and that tomorrow means recovery and more rest at home!!

Maggie is home and resting. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes. It was a long night all around. Most in my house today are snoozing.

We’ll keep praying...it always seems to take a bit to get your bearings after life slams on the brakes like that. Deo Gratias Miss Maggie is okay.

Maggie has been resting and sleeping all day. She doesn't have energy for much else. She is eating some but still fighting nausea (even though she's taking Zofran). The thing now is to keep her hydrated and nourished. I am pushing broths and the like but she can only take so much and then feels like she will vomit if she has more. Nights are always worse and she went to bed feeling a little worse so I will be keeping close watch on her tonight.
Stomach flus are one of the absolute worst things for diabetics. The doctors are concerned because some diabetic children, for whatever reason, just don't respond well when they get sick. They were adamant that we bring her back right away if she doesn't get better in the next few days. She isn't in the clear yet and I could see tonight that it would be very easy for her to slip back in the other direction.
We would really appreciate your continued prayers.
Matthew (our other diabetic child) seems to be fine (but needs almost no insulin the past few days so clearly he's dealing with something) and we hope that continues.
