Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Dh has been the contact parent with the ped. Whooping cough was dismissed at some point. I'll double check the details with dh when I see him tonight. Honestly, I'd be happy to know it is whooping cough. The other explanation, the one the ped is going with, is allergy related .

What are the benefits of being tested for whooping cough, other than to know you have had it and now have lifetime immunity...is that right?

Love,

Antibiotics won't help them much this late into it, but it can help prevent them from spreading it to others, especially infants, since it's highly contagious. Plus, it needs to be reported if it's going around in your area so pediatricians can be on the look-out. Knowing that it's going around can be the difference between testing infants with coughs or not. Getting an early diagnosis can be life-saving for infants since they can immediately begin treatment and parents know to watch them closely in case they need to be taken to the ER. Pertussis doesn't always present with the classic whopping pattern cough.

Love,

That would be one benefit and just the knowledge that it will end, but that is why is has been so long. The problem with whooping cough is that it is best deteted by culture only for a period of time early in the disease. Late in the disease, you are likely to get a negative. I am pretty sure we had it here many years back but all three kids tested negative (though two children they were around who sounded just like them, got positive diagnosis).

Praying for your family. I know they call whooping cough the "100 day cough" so maybe that is what you have?

Heading into the 12th week...

Aiden is at the ped for a regularly scheduled sports physical and that went well. Since the cough still persists he got a chest xray and the ped is looking more seriously at the allergy explanation for these symptoms . They are in consultation right now.

Could you all please pray! One of the main reasons we left PA seven years ago to come to AZ was for allergy/asthma relief for my dh. If this is allergy related...all of our boys and I will are likely candidates.

Thanks so much!

Love,

Angie, I am praying for an answer and relief very soon. I didn't realize it was still going on. Mark wanted me to tell you that last winter he coughed for over two months. He was on many things, including allergy meds. He still thinks it was allergies, but that nothing could cure it. A mystery

Lack of sleep makes it all the more intollerable!    Praying here!
