He's okay and on his way home. Dh calls it nothing short of a miracle. Thanks for praying. I have a feeling that this whole thread will bear witness to a grand plan. He missed the second half of the morning game and all of the championship game. I just have to believe that the right coaches saw the right thing and this will all work together for good. Mike really thought he'd played his last game and so did the trainer on the scene. We're very grateful.

Elizabeth,
I am so glad he is okay! What a scary situation!
It makes me think though of how uncertain the future is for these talented athletes. Charlie tells me that baseball is what he plans to do in life, and I have to remind him that it only takes one injury to end that dream.
At least you and Michael know that even if soccer comes to an end, he has a great education to fall back on.
That said, I will pray that he gets the call from the school he wants and goes on to soccer greatness!!!

Elizabeth, I'm praying for Michael---his healing and his future---and for the future of your family.
I wanted to comment on something you wrote yesterday:

This spoke volumes to me about Michael and his heart and his mature perspective on priorities. I am the oldest of 9---my youngest brother was born during the spring of my senior year of high school. A few mos later I went off to college, 5 hrs away, and except for school breaks and three summers, I never lived near home again. It was agonizing to leave them, and my lil bro had to relearn who I was each time I came back that first year. I honestly never even considered staying close to home---partly because there aren't a whole lot of options in Youngstown, OH  (didn't know about FUS then), but mostly because I thought my college years were all about me and I was supposed to be breaking away from my family.  Although my siblings and I are all very close now, the youngest ones definitely grew up without me, and I missed out on a lot not living nearby. It does all work out in the end---wouldn't have met my amazing dh if I hadn't gone away  ---still I'm impressed by Michael's perspective.
All this to say that you must be doing something right! Keep clinging to Rom 8:28. God is faithful. Always.

Sigh...I KNEW there was more to this story. The CT scan turned up a couple of things unrelated to the injury. It's probably nothing but more testing is indicated.
