Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert

I'm now having to search the thread to make sure I don't have a duplicate.

"F" is next, and Ferdinand has already been done!

And it's "The Story of Ferdinand" anyway so had been used for "S" not "F"

This is our FIRST "F"! (I just checked .) Way to go, Jenn! New letter!

Father Phillip Tells a Ghost Story by Susan Brindle, Miriam Laderman, and Carmen Klosterman

I am almost at my limit for library holds.

We've had 111 titles listed so far, 109 different ones. There are so many I haven't heard of, that my library request list is so long, too! I started writing them down, but then decided I needed to alphabetize.

I'll update it if we add some more, but here's the Spreadsheet so far:

2010-10-01_115907_Picture_Book_Game.xls (Just reloaded, as I messed up some "E" books)

We only had two repeats. Not bad, eh?

I'm loving all the little tidbits about each book...I'd say this thread is as close as you can get to talk about books over coffee.

While Jenn was compiling a list, I was counting letters used!! Good Grief - it is a sickness, as Lindsay said!
A - 5
B - 1
C - 2
D -5
E - 8
F - 1
G - 2
H - 2
I - 2
J
K - 5
L - 8
M - 4
N - 7
O - 5
P - 4
Q
R - 10
S - 12
T - 13
U - 5
V
W - 2
X - 1
Y - 4
Z

I thought of a "Y" book with an ending of little used letter - "G"

You're a Grand Old Flag

It's the lyrics to the song with illustrations from Norman Rockwell. Lovely!

good title, Christine! I appreciate your help with H...but I was still sleeping on the West Coast

we'll find another one!

Lindsay....thanks for the visuals about groundhogs. So sorry about your garden.

our first F.wow.

Funny, I went to bed thinking: I should probably stop pestering everybody and just let the game die out since I keep coming back and posting.....maybe everyone is getting tired of this...or of me , but.....I wake up this am with a bunch of new posts

so, if anyone gets really tired of my not quitting....just tell me...I will not be offended

Y..gotta go find a Y......

well, I give. There is no Y book on my shelves. I will save looking up a title if no one else can find a Y.

, Jenny!

First I panicked over the X.....oh, duh.....NOT part of the title!

Then, my next D title had a Y.....can't use that...Y is too much trouble

So, here is another of MY childhoos favorites:

DOWN, DOWN THE MOUNTAIN by Ellis Credle

this is getting a bit trickier now, watching those endings .....and that will make us sillier

BUT...I am guessing women who love picture books must be a bit silly in the first place, no?

We are silly, aren't we? But it helps us enter our children's fun!

Got your "H"...your book was on my "list" to add.
