Depends on the group which honored him.

Can't let this slide, abc, even with an lol. To malign means to make evil, harmful, and often untrue statements about; speak evil of. No one has done that here.

And connecting Spock with over-regulation of children (a lost generation? thats pretty harsh, isnt it?) and other modern evils is pretty negative, too. |

Negative and harsh but is it true is the question I'm curious about.

I think Spock does not belong in a category of people who have done a disservice to women as mothers, whether they choose to have umpteen children or only one.

I'm curious...why not? Can you share your reasoning and references for others to consider? I'd be especially interested in how this all connects for you to the Catholic faith.
Fascinating topic and (Dr. Spock)sub-topic.
Love,

Since this kind of fits with what is being discussed, I have a question for you all, and I really want to hear your opinion on it.
How would you feel if your dd wanted to get married at age 18 or 19?
My own dd16 has said to me that even if she wanted to get married at that age, she is sure that most of her Catholic homeschooling friends and families would assume she "had been bad" and "had to get married."
She has also said things to me like, "why should I go to college and spend 1000's of $$$ on a degree, when I really want to be a homeschooling mom with 9 children?"
Thoughts?

I make it easy, Mary...I never update!
I'll take a looks and see if there is a way to fix the thing so one can tell. It may require a subscription, or something.
Back to our regularly scheduled program.

Assumming the boy was Catholic, a good man, etc., I would be thrilled. I actually hope for early marriages for many reasons. Of course the key is for the parents and the marriagable adult to stay open to God's will and pray.
I have some good examples in my life and there are many right here on the boards, of young marriages that have turned out beautifully.

Backing up a little to the subject of why faithful Catholic families seem smaller these days, does anyone else find herself uncomfortable with how commonly other Catholic *NFPing* couples discuss procreation in certain ways

Theresa, many of these issues were recently discussed in this great thread on Covenanted Happiness. You can read it here
