Update #5 9/10: I'm back home. Just in case anyone wants to know...an amnio does not feel like a "bee sting" or an "IV stick"!
They were able to pull off 35cc's of fluid from the pleural space and his lung re-expanded quickly. We should know all the result from the fluid and amnio in about 2 weeks.
Thank you all for your continued prayers. It means so much to me and my family.
God Bless and rest assured your intentions are being prayed for.
Stephanie

Stephanie - My heart goes out to you. I had a very difficult diagnosis with my second, and all those ultrasounds can be such roller coaster rides. On the plus side, you can see some amazing features of your little babe with the high-resolution images!
Many, many prayers go to you and your little man. God Bless you and your family.

Update #6
After 2 successful thoracentesis procedures, the fluid has re-accumulated again. The Dr. will place a stent in his lung on Monday @ 10:30. Please keep us in your prayers.
The amnio showed an absence of genetic abnormalities and there was not any infection present. He has something called a chylothorax which is simply fluid in the pleural cavity from a defect in the lymphatic system. It is the best possible diagnosis for this situation. Thanks be to God.Thank you all for your prayers.

Stephanie - continuing to pray, and will pray especially on Monday. It is good to know that your little one's diagnosis is the best possible under the circumstances.
Peace,
Nancy

Update #7 11/04
Little Charlie had his shunt placed about 5 weeks ago and everything looks great. His lungs re-expanded and have remained so. He looks great on u/s. I will be induced in about a month and he will have about a week stay in the NICU for observation. Please pray that once he is born the effusions don't come back. I am so grateful for your prayers and the optimism of the physicians. Your intentions remain in my prayers.
Stephanie
