Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh, congratulations Becky! Adding you to our prayers for expectant mothers and also enlisting the intercession of Sts. Elizabeth and Sarah (who laughed when told she would bear a son, whose name, Isaac, means laughter)! Older mothers are truly blesed!

Thanks Servant. We named our 5th child Isaac because I thought I was old to be having a baby at 43. Go figure!

Thanks again everyone. I went to a Right to Life dinner last night. Our bishop was the speaker and while he didn't actually address "elderly women having babies" I did get reassurance from his talk.

I feel so much better today. It must be all your prayers! I've actually had these battles in my mind ... "were we irresponsible? , will I be strong enough to have this baby? , What will my 17 yo ds think (he already gets teased about having "so many" siblings")... I know it's just Satan trying to steal the joy that should be filling my heart. I know, I know, I know that God blesses us with grace for each thing we are called to. My life reflects that knowledge. So why, just because this happens to be something the "world" is going to balk at, do I lose faith?! Ugh.

I know I can tell you ladies and receive support and that joyful everyone should get when they are pregnant! I also know I will receive support from my friends here in town that I homeschool with. They're awesome too. I can't tell them yet though(not until we tell the kids).

I hope I can be as helpful and supportive for some of you. You are truly a blessing.

(I havent' been to the doctor yet, but if my calculations are correct, the due date will be right around the feast of Our Lady of Guadeloupe. That's pretty neat!)

Becky,

That's great about the dinner last night! Perfect way to find encouragement!   I wanted to add that our oldest, also age 17 and in 11th grade, loves having the littles around (our youngest is 2). Matter of fact, he and our other son loved carrying our most recent addition around in a Snugli bag when she was a tiny baby. If you have never seen the film, "Yours, Mine and Ours", starring Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda (NOT the remake!) try to get a hold of it. There are some great exchanges between the oldest sibling (an older teenage boy) and his younger brother (many years his junior). It also doesn't hurt that the family that is portrayed is clearly devoutly Catholic, either!

Congratulations again!

Yes, I know that movie Tea. Thanks for the reminder! We haven't seen it in a while so I'll have to pull it out. My oldest has a wonderful relationship with his 2yo brother, but he goes to highschool now and gets teased because we drive a full sized van and he has 4 siblings . (It's really silly, in my opinion, since alot of the other people, with 2 kids, drive Suburbans!) I guess a van isn't cool .

I've actually been thinking, maybe there is a way we will touch the heart of someone at this school. Maybe our attitude toward this new little gift will be a message somehow. I was struggling with the attitude part, as I said, but I'm doing better now. Ya never know what God has in store!

Oh, Becky, I can see that Satan has been at work trying to take the joy away. May God bless you ABUNDANTLY, give you peace and JOY and strength! CONGRATULATIONS!! on a new little miracle! I am praying for you and the baby and for the words as you share your WONDERFUL news with others. Rebuke those doubts and fears in the name of Jesus. Praise Him aloud when these thoughts come. That always helps me and sends Satan packing.

As a twenty-one year old in university, I must admit that I *enjoyed* shocking people with the news of my youngest sibling's impending arrival. (I'm the oldest of seven)

He was sooooo cute as a ten month old at my wedding

Okay ... Last night my 17 yo ds got home from track practice. He walked in and the 2 yo went running to him yelling "Hi Joel!" The 17yo scooped him up and gave him this huge hug saying "How's my buddy?" and I just stood there and cried. Hormones! But I think it was just another blessing and reassurance that this is all going to be okay. I've been worrying about so many silly things! Thanks again for the many prayers - they are working!

If you liked the movie "Yours, Mine, and Ours" You should definitely read the book "Who Get's the Drumstick?" WAAAAAYYYY better than the movie - and their Catholic faith really shines through.

Becky, I have a good friend that had her 6th child at 47 - she had a very healthy pregnancy, labor and delivery. She comments all the time what a blessing her little guy is.

This is such great news. I'm thrilled for you. You and baby are in my prayers!

Guitarnan: You read sig lines - apparently *I* don't

Becky: Congratulations! And you do have our prayers!

I remember when I was at Ave Maria College, marvelling at the number of students with baby siblings and pregnant mothers. I was pregnant with my son at the time and the males were always so helpful with things; the females were always wanting to rub my belly and would watch for "baby movements". After my son was born (I officially attended one more semester after his birth, but lived just across the street for the next two years, of course everyone wanted to hold him - and surprisingly enough, it was the more the *men* who had younger siblings back at home that they SO missed, that wanted to hold my son as a baby and play games with him as he got older.

Your son will be very happy!
