If you could spare a prayer for me in the next week, I would appreciate it. At my OB appointment today my OB said my fasting sugar levels are "too high" (they're generally below 100 or 101 but not below 95 where he wants them) and suggested that unless they come down between now and my next appointment on Monday (originally he said a week, then he said Monday), he will have me take one insulin shot every evening.
The only values that are in any way, shape, or form above the recommended values are my fasting sugar levels and that's only by a few points. I don't think I need any insulin, but... I doubt that my opinion will matter. I have 4 more weeks until my scheduled C-section date. Please pray that I am able (somehow) to pull my fasting sugars down 5 points! I don't know that either I or my husband would be able to give me shots every evening.
I am also at the point where "the little things" have just piled up too high for me to deal with in a rational manner at all times. It seems like there is something new every day. There is school to finish, school to plan, paperwork to complete for the state, deteriorating behavior of my little ones, my 4.5 year olds absolutely do NOT care whether they are ever potty-trained, a move to prepare for, we all have colds (second in a row), the house is a wreck since we have been dealing with all the other projects, and -- oh, yeah, I'm 34 weeks pregnant, and my 2 yo is still sleeping in my bed.
You know -- separately all of it could be dealt with. Together... well, I'm ready for a vacation!!!
Anyway, I would appreciate your prayers. I am *trying* to cultivate a peaceful attitude of giving it all up to God and just putting myself at the foot of the Cross every day, but... some days are better than others; you understand.

try and add in some exercise.. not easy with a full schedule.. but with my first pregnancy when they were flipping out about a couple high numbers.. FIVE minutes of exercise a day brought levels down into normal.. and definately do something active right before your blood draw.

Angela, I'm praying.
And I've also been there. The insulin isn't too hard to do, and it's a bit of a relief that you have some help to keep things under control. Right now this is just the hormones and placenta talking to your body, and not having a clear conversation . The last part of pregnancy it just gets higher, not usually lower. It's not a failure on your part for not doing the right things. And it will end, in 4 weeks to be exact! That's the AMEN part! But a healthy baby is worth all of this!
If you mean fasting, first check in the morning, in my experience, my numbers went higher before I ate, no matter how active I was before that blood draw.
Jodie is right, if you can, do a bit more exercise, and drink lots of water. That helps with lowering overall numbers. Those T-Tapp hoedowns are very helpful!
All that stress also causes sugar to rise, and I have to face it, I can't lower daily stress in the day-to-day life in a family.

Oh I am praying too! I have my own 5 points to come down too..but my midwife has the limit at 140 and I just came back today at 145. I am having a hard time sleeping at night with my cortisol running so I am wondering if that has something to do with it. By the time I went for the test I had been fasting for more than 12 hours...so she will have me retake it in 2 weeks...wish me luck!
I will be praying for you, though! I just moved my 18mo ds out of our bed in with one of the twins to watch him at night so he doesn't wake me anymore...coincidentally he just weaned himself last week..I can't remember the last time I had someone stop nursing that soon. I am NOT worrying about school...I am asking them to do math and read and I throw in some kind of catechism here and there. I will make up for the melted brains in September...LOL.
Are you staying in state, Angela? You could always move over here into NJ and not worry about the paperwork anymore...LOL
Try and simplify where you can and I will help pray you right through the rest! My heart goes out to you and I will keep your name in God's ears!! Take good care of you, dear lady! We have got your back!

But your opinion does matter!!!!! If you don't think the few points warrant insulin - then tell him that and don't take it!!! I agree with Jodie - add some exercise, even just a little and that could help big time - esp. early in the morning.
I will pray for your attitude of peace - prayer is the only way!! Blessings!

Another thing to keep in mind is minimizing your exposure to electronics, wireless internet and anything that gives off EMFs. We have discovered that those things affect my type 1 diabetic children's blood sugar quite a bit (makes it rise --A LOT).
I was talking to their Dr. about it yesterday and he suspects it has to do with glucose metabolism so it could certainly be a factor for gestational diabetes too. We keep our wireless turned off and have installed filters to re-route the transient electricity from our outlets. It has helped a great deal in blood sugar control.
Just a thought.
Praying for you!

I was up to three shots a day and they weren't to hard to inject. At first I had to close my eyes, my children thought it was very funny as I would let out a little eeekk!! for the first few times, but I very quickly got used to them.
Just keep taking big breaths and think ahead to 6-7 weeks when you can physically tackle some of these challengers, with your beautiful new baby.
Prayers here Angela, God Bless to you and your little
ones.

Update:
Thank you for all your prayers!!! I took many of the suggestions you all gave me -- more exercise, more water, gave up my chewable sweetened supplements, ate dinner earlier -- and along with prayer, my numbers came down-- a lot!
So it looks like as long as everything stays the way it has for the past 5 days, I won't need insulin. Also, God is being very good to me, it should be WARM this week. We're still all getting over colds and I still have all the paperwork, etc., but being able to go outside definitely makes life better.

wonderful news Angela
and yes, sometimes it only takes one little thing like warm weather to make everything else not seem so bad.
