I don't want to start any fisticuffs, but is there a difference between Cub and White Sox cuisine - do both get the Chicago style hot dog? Texas and Houston, are we talking Tex Mex differences? Angels and Dodgers - how different can they be?
I found a recipe for the Primati Brothers Sandwich - Pittsburgh. If you google, there are a ton of yummy pics!
I'm noticing a french fries theme.
Love,

OOOOOHH! I feel weak in the knees after that. YUM!
We are so excited over here, especially since I am planning my upcoming menu cycle. My dh can hardly contain himself. Even though he doesn't cook, he loves to eat. Thanks for putting so much into this Angie.

I almost forgot: for Kansas City, either steak (for the stockyards) or BBQ would do well.
For all you DC area gals, is there anything special about Ben's Chili or is it a standard chili?

Anita beat me to it for the Royals: good KC strip steak or any kind of barbecue. Oh, or you could try grass-fed beef too! And an ice cold Tallgrass Wheat Ale.

Ben's Chili Bowl is an institution here. Presidents eat there, but it's basically a streetside restaurant (the kind with a casual awning). The founder (who recently died) began the restaurant almost 52 years ago when most African-Americans in DC were struggling to find decent jobs. Ben and his wife, Virginia, took a gamble and opened a restaurant that welcomed everyone, particularly their fellow African-Americans. Ben's sons run the place (wind-powered!) now.
My husband says that the best way to describe Ben's chili is...
It's juicy enough to soak into the hot dog bun. (Less thick than canned chili.) It has the right proportions of meat and beans. (It has both.) It is spicy. (Not set-your-hair-on-fire...but not mild.) Most importantly, it tastes homemade.
Ben's Chili Bowl (the U Street location) serves up half smokes with chili, chili dogs and beef or veggie chili, even at breakfast time! Chili burgers are on the lunch menu, too.
The nachos thing is for the ball park. The original restaurant doesn't offer them. (They do chili-cheese fries, though.)
Have I convinced you to head east and give it a try?

Tampa Bay...
DH suggests gator chili or (sorry, ick!) gator-tail fritters.
Yes, he's eaten and enjoyed both.

Well, with our new ballpark, you can have Bloomington Onion Rings at Hrbek's - right behind home plate. Or you can eat in the stands and have a Vincent Burger or Murray's Steak Sandwich, and wash it down with a Killebrew Root Beer. All easily made at home...

Texas is pretty big on Tex-Mex...fajitas, nachos, quesadillas, enchiladas, chips and salsa.

From what I hear Atlanta is associated with Coca Cola. Also could do something peach (peach cobbler, peach melba) since Georgia is the Peach State.
For the Texas teams (Rangers, Astros) any Tex-Mex options like Kathryn mentioned or a nice steak.
For the Chicago teams (White Sox, Cubs) - Chicago deep-dish pizza
For the Marlins, dare I say "swordfish" - I know they aren't the same. But it would be close . And is eating the mascot allowed...?
Looks like the AL teams need some ideas, too:
Boston Red Sox: Boston Baked Beans, Boston Cream Pie
Minnesota Twins: of course a hot dish, and maybe play off the "twins" theme like twin popsicles, & ???
Detroit Tigers: Hmmmm....was thinking cereal (ie. Kelloggs and others in Battle Creek) - maybe Frosted Flakes 'cuz you'd get the "tigers" too .

We are huge baseball fans here. We live in a non MLB state so we have numerous teams we love.
Because we have 6 games a week of our own to juggle but think this sounds SO fun, I am going to just schedule several of these kind of random. I couldn't be organized enough to have it coincide with a particular games. We are MLB.com members anyway and can watch any game any time.
So the kids could see a posted menu in the kitchen of famous ballparks and would just be so excited.
Great idea. I'm going to run with it!
Play ball!

Oakland, Calif. is home to Jack London Square, which is where the famed author hung out...mainly at Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon. The saloon was originally opened to serve the local oystermen (who knew that San Francisco Bay had oysters? Not I!). The saloon survived the 1906 earthquake. Jack London used to study there and borrowed money from the original owner for college tuition.
Today it looks like traditional bar drinks are the place's mainstay - but they do serve root beer!
I remember visiting the saloon about 35 years ago...definitely part of California history!
The Square has several restaurants now...seafood, pan-American, chain restaurants, Mexican, Italian, Korean - all a part of California's cultural heritage. Remember, too, that Oakland and the other Bay Area cities got their start supporting first the Mexican rancho owners, then the American traders, and finally the gold rush prospectors. During the gold rush, tacks (for tents) were literally worth their weight in gold until an enterprising person imported a ship's cargo hold full of them.
Whether you toast the Oakland A's with a root beer or something stronger, consider doing it in denim. Levi Strauss got his start during the gold rush days, too!

For San Diego I would argue that fish tacos would be more traditional than shrimp ones. :)
This is a fun idea!

I'm having a blast with this, so thank you for starting this topic, Anita .
I have a few minutes before I go to Little League so I'll try to catch up here...and figure out what we're still missing. We're women on a mission!

We need help for...
Cleveland Indians
Los Angeles Angels
New York Yankees
***
Our men went to the old Yankee Stadium and wasn't impressed with the food - ate hot dogs. Any word on the food at the new stadium?
We go to Angels minor league park here in Tempe/Phoenix...the food is great but nothing is saying to me "Los Angeles Anaheim" to me.
OK...as we move through baseball season and have fun with regional cuisine, report back here! Let us know what you made, share links to recipes, and anything else! I'm happy and eager to update as we go along.
Love,

I found this link for Cleveland and NE Ohio foods. Looks like walleye is popular . Was intrigued by the Hanky Panky - sounds unique to Cleveland. And the candy buckeyes would be fun. This site also list Cincinnati-style chili which we have already relegated to Cincinnati where it belongs.
