What a cool kid.
What a neat mom.
You guys are just too sweet together.
He is going to get it. Six more nights big guy!
I remember the loss of control being that late morning thing, too. (we did hear him get up )It gave me hope--he can make it that long he can get through a few more hours....(I would check his bed before I went to bed while he was sleeping, just to get data -shhhhh!)
Many prayers for success and I will pray for the other issues, too. So hard and so sad.
Dh had this problem when young. His grandmother (primary caregiver for a while) took me aside after ds was born and told me. She warned it was a really long time. I asked dh about it and he had a hard time with it--obviously embarrassed I knew and was probably made to feel bad by his parents at times. He has healed through our kids issues and my trying to help them. God does work through us. Hang in there dear, Paula.

Oh, Paula, I just meant the movie might be interesting for him (don't know what age it is directed to,) to show him that some people deal with this even later, into their teens. You are such a loving mom and have done so much to keep your son safe and protect him!
I thought he might be able to relate to a popular figure, like Michael Landon, if he has seen LHOP.
God Bless,

My 8 yo girl and 10 yo boy have this problem. A bedwetting alarm worked for my daughter, but my son was too proud to wear it. He just takes care of things if he has an accident, he is slowly outgrowing it (was every night, now it's maybe 1x a week, if that). He takes his wet things to the laundry room and changes his clothes. No biggie.
I did some research on it and it seems that if there is not a physical issue involved (such as polyuria, one of my kids has that, or kidney problems, etc.) that there is actually a chemical your body produces when you sleep that tells your body to slow down urine production. Some kids don't make enough of that hormone.
Also, citrus and red dye #40 can irritate the bladder.

by reading through the comments he knows he is not the only child that has this issue. That in itself was a huge eye-opener for him. |

Just to help your son feel better. My irl friend has three of her children who are bed wetters, every night, wetting every article including doonas and pillows. Girls aged 12 & 10, boy aged 7. They take it in their stride just casually dealing with it. They recently came for a sleep over and we just were all so casual about it the next morning including my children. No big deal, we have had another friend who several of her boys were bed wetters till 12 or there about's.

Hey, Paula, just a quick bit of advice that worked for my teenager. Try having him do some exercises that will strengthen the sphyncter that holds the urine in during the night. If he begins to urinate during the normal course of the day, have him "start and stop" several times as he's voiding. If he does this every day, it will strengthen the muscles necessary to keep dry during the night. Also, do little challenges during the day to stretch the size of his bladder. When he's home, have him dring plenty of fluids in the morning and "hold it in" as long as he can. After several months of these exercises, my child is dry every night for the first time in years!!!!!!!!!I hope it works well for your son too! You're in our prayers!
