Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We're offering prayers through the wakeful moments of our nights and at mass this morning. We're off to family adoration and we'll continue to pray there. I'm passing this intention on to the Franciscan fraternity here in town Michelle. Thank you for the update.

Thank you for updating us about Ryan and I hope you will continue to do so. I'm offering up my little physical pains for Ryan because I'm concerned about his pain. I'm so very glad that he is in capable hands. Our prayers for the whole family continue.

Love,

Ryan is doing very well considering his burns were 3rd degree covering 50% of his body.

I want to share a little more of Ryan's story in case anyone else (may our Lord forbid) should find themselves in the same circumstances. It was his family's quick thinking that saved his life. Immediately the older children put the fire out (I think w/ a jacket) while getting him to the house to his parents. 911 was called while his father put him in a cold shower which washed his clothing off of his skin along with the gasoline. Flight for Life landed on his street and took him away in a matter of minutes. The doctor's said what helped to keep the damage to his muscles to a minimum was the cold shower!

The doctors were able to lower Ryan's pain meds and
Saturday Ryan even gave a smile from inside his bubble! Pretty amazing!

As for his recovery, he will go in next week for some skin graphs. He is expected to remain in the hospital for 8 weeks. His mom will be staying with him and his Dad and siblings will come up on the weekends. The doctors have said that they expect his scarring on his face to be minimal.

Thank you again for all your prayers and sacrifices!

Praying. Thanks for sharing the shower story. My son is 7 and I can't imagine such an awful ordeal. How he and his family must be suffering.

Michelle,

Thank you for the updates on Ryan.

Reading that he smiled...made me smile. Oh, how precious a smile can be.

Thank you for the reminder of putting cold water on burns.

We will continue to pray for Ryan and his family.

Oh, I just looked at his website, and it broke my heart. But, I'm happy to see that he seems to be making slow but steady progress. Prayers continue.
