UPDATE: thank you so much for all your prayers! I have felt buoyed and way more peaceful since I asked for help. however, I am also still pregnant. still 5 cm dilated, and still contracting, although not with the clocklike regularity of last week. I have also been to a therapist and officially diagnosed as moderately to severely depressed, which means we're working up a plan to prepare for post-partum depression, just in case.
so. that's the news. on the bright side, if he doesn't come by the weekend, my midwife will try blue and black cohosh and is recommending accupuncture. has anyone tried that? (although my husband is hoping today is the day so he can name this little guy Patrick Guinness.
THANK YOU AGAIN, SO VERY MUCH!!!!! |

Oh, and I've never tried acupuncture, but I did try cohosh with one of mine...it didn't work. I did have contractions while I was taking it, but they didn't stick. I wasn't dilated at *all* though, or really having any signs that labor was impending at that point, so maybe it will help you! I think that makes a big difference...those things are really meant to push someone over who's ready to start anyway,,

Oh, yay! Congratulations! I also vote for Damien. My oldest was going to be Damien if she had been a boy. I got some comments about the whole Damien movie thing..."Isn't Satan's name Damien?" Um...no. That was just a movie. Damien is a Saint. Fantasy vs. Reality, people!

Congratulations on baby Luke!
I would have to add a new vote for a middle name - Joseph - after reading your story
God bless,
Christine

Damien is very fitting as others have mentioned. You know if you go with Damien you automatically also get a "Joseph" with it since his given name was Jozef. But I have to say I am also partial to Gonzaga and Aloysius, too - though I haven't heard of the Gonzaga used, just Aloysius, which I really like a lot. Gonzaga would definitely be a more unique one. Wonderful patron either way with either of his names.
