I am bumping this up because my daughter is supposed to take the test next week, and I just wanted to confirm the answer to one question.
Mary and the angels are at Mass because we are with Jesus on the Cross then. True or False
I am assuming the answer is True, but I thought I would pick your brains for confirmation since it seems like such a strange question. Those of you who use Faith & Life might be able to shed more light on what they are looking for.
If she misses even one question she has to retake the test or not make her FHE.

Can't help as I wasn't sure the first time you asked.

Just wanted to say - that is really frustrating. Any chance you could ask the DRE for clarification on where inthe materials to find this information referenced/answered?

I don't actually own Faith and Life. We've been using the St. Joseph Catechism for First Communicants and doing lots of in-depth discussion.
I thought that I would ask everyone here one more time before contacting the DRE. Part of not wanting to ask her is pride. Part of it is fear that she will begin to question my competency to teach religious education at home. Although, I think that is a very text-book based question.

I just read St. Pio's quote that yes, in fact, Mary and the angels are at mass because it is Calvary over again. HTH

I wish I had a F&L to help you!
While Gloria's quote is just perfect, I was reading in the Compendium this question:
Quote:
234. Who celebrates the heavenly liturgy?
1138-1139
The heavenly liturgy is celebrated by the angels, by the saints of the Old and New Testament, particularly the Mother of God, by the Apostles, by the martyrs, and by the “great multitude which no one could number from every nation, race, people, and tongue.” (Revelation 7:9). When we celebrate the mystery of our salvation in the sacraments we participate in this eternal liturgy. |

It's such a tricky question. It shouldn't be. It isn't the whole truth. The Mass is the unbloody re-presentation of Calvary, it is the unbloody Sacrifice on the Cross.
Technically, yes it's true, but because it's not the original Calvary in a bloody way, it's a bit false without that clarification.
So, like Mary, I can't really give a good answer.

Isn't there something to the effect of all the saints in heaven are present around the altar with us at the Holy Eucharist? That would be what Jennifer linked in #234.
This is really, I think, an intense preparation, and we use Faith and Life. Maybe I am missing something in my dss' preparation? I have 31 days to fill in #5ds's gaps.
Praying for your dd's exam!!!
God Bless,
Stacy in MI
