Just for the record, I Tim Smith! There was a strict "I can't talk to anybody" order issued from the couch this morning. So, when my husband handed me the phone, I gave him a "you have got to be kidding" look. He smiled and shoved it at me. It was Tim and I was so glad to hear from him! Fine work, sir, making it past the phone guard.
So, let me set the record straight: I daily thank God for Tim and Janette Smith and the good and holy work they do here!

Elizabeth, I am so thrilled for you and Mike! How wonderful and sad at the same time. I am sorry you lost a little one but I know the life within you must be a great comfort. Now you have saint in heaven who will be there to pray for their sibling.
Feel better, I'll be praying.

Elizabeth, just finding this thread...
So very happy about the good news, and you know I am praying for you always and especially now. I will ask Aidan to pray for you too. He knows about that "IV access" problem all too well.

Willa,
I've been thinking about Aidan all the time lately--both the IV access and Aidan's stories of St. Therese and roses. I've got a story now too:
I did a novena--a long, perpetual novena-- to St. Therese last spring summer before we went to visit her shrine in Chicago. And then I brought my request to the shrine. I waited and waited for roses. The only thing that came close was rose scented soap that chari's daughter Anne brought me when she and your Clare came to visit. Not exactly a shower of roses but I did use it in the shower . Then,on the first day of this cycle, just before Christmas, when I was so sad to have my period again, my stepmother came to drop a birthday present for Nicky. Out of the blue, she brought me miniature roses. She never brings me anything. They were exactly like the ones Alice Gunther sent when I miscarried, only they were red instead of yellow.
Then it was Christmas. I had bought several dozen roses to cut into centerpieces Christmas morning. This whole centerpiece creation is my thing and I was really looking forward to the craft. I stored them in the fridge in the garage. They froze solid. I was so sad. The waste, the lost craft I was so looking forward to, it all seemed like a bad omen...Mike insisted I cut them and arrange them. I told him they'd all fall apart as soon as they thawed. That's what roses do. He said something about Christmas miracles. I did the arrangements. They still looked perfect New Year's Day--the day I conceived. Then, two weeks later, my friend Megan called in an order for centerpieces for my dad's birthday party. I told her to get something hardy and inexpensive. I ended up with white roses...
When I went in for a sonogram last Monday, I didn't even notice the room. The technician did the sonogram, showed me the heartbeat and left to deliver the films to the radiologist. I sat up and there on the wall across the room was one picture. It was a vase of 7 roses--five red and two yellow.
I'm thinking the last month has been a shower of roses!

Cheering congratulations to the Foss family. Blessed are you, Elizabeth. Count on my prayers.
For what it's worth, I am a surviving twin; my mother lost my twin early on in her pregnancy also. She tells me that she prayed if God would allow the surviving baby (me) to live, she would thank Him for the baby every day of her life
May Our Lady of Guadalupe tie her ribbon of protection above your womb. Much love and

Congratulations Elizabeth!!
I think I've posted that I was 44 when I had Renee. When I got pregnant I had been as St. Therese parish for over 10 years. A dear friend there began to pray that we would have another baby; specifically a girl . We moved out of that parish exactly one month before I gave birth to my girl....on Oct. 1st, 2004. I considered that my "roses."
Thank you St. Therese

Elizabeth,
I hope you are hanging in there with your nausea. Prayers are coming daily for you, your little one and your entire family... and I wanted you to thank you for telling us about your showering of roses this past month...it gives me hope, too!
