This is an update from Bob's aunt:
Hi, all,
William is still holding his own at Children's Hosp. He is still in ICU there. They would like to try and wean him off the oxygen, Bob said this morning, but he is still having episodes where he gets so clogged up that he can't breathe so they can't get him off yet. Bob said he is doing better still than yesterday though. They have also been able to thin formula with pedialyte so that he can get some nourishment and not spit it all back up. The drs. said if he continues to improve he may get out of ICU in another day or two and then will have to stay in a regular room there another 4-5 days. They are VERY appreciative of everyone's prayers-please continue.
Thanks and God bless

This poor little fella! I can only imagine Bob and Kim's state of mind!!! They're in my prayers and thoughts!
I'm praying that little William continues to steadily improve, and that Our Lord sustains this family with the strength they need to walk this Way of the Cross!
Sending across the miles!

Oh, still praying here.
My Joey was in 12 days as the reflux got so bad that they were about to do surgery (our pastor asked everyone to pray from the pulpit and it was like a miracle....he started to slowly keep food down); I am so sympathetic and recalling all of these memories! God bless you all.

Update from Kim:
We just wanted to let you all know that, yes, William is FINALLY home and he seems to be doing well. He is sleeping peacefully in a humidified room right now and we are trying to keep him away from all of his younger siblings who have the stomach flu! (When it rains it pours. :>) I cannot thank you all enough for your prayers for little Willy and our whole family through this entire time. What began as a simple cough snowballed into something much more serious within just a few days. Thankfully, he received great medical care at Children's Hospital in time and he has really regained his strength and is breathing well. After he had been at the hospital (Mary Washington) overnight, it almost seemed as if he was running in place as he was breathing so hard and fast. He became listless and didn't want to eat much and when he did, it would make him worse since it caused more mucus to build up in his lungs. He was also very pale. This really concerned the doctors, and after receiving breathing treatments that seemed to make matters much worse, they decided to fly him to Children's Hospital by helicopter as they had a few more options above and beyond what Mary Washington could offer him at this point. Needless to say, it was quite disconcerting to see your infant son flying away, and we realized that the situation must be very serious. After being on oxygen for several days and having round the clock care by the nurses and Mom and Dad, William is breathing normally again although he does still have some wheezing which is normal, and he will be prone to lung infections for the next year or so. We are just so glad to have him home again and all of the kids are glad to have us back at home with them.
We wanted to thank everyone for all the prayers, delicious meals, a ride home, babysitting, meals brought to us while in the hospital and fun talks to distract us for a moment, sundae makings brought to cheer up all the kids at home, a lovely handmade Rosary that was oddly given to me just a day or two before he was very ill that I used to pray for him at the hospital, being "mom" to my two older boys at the March for Life, fixing our 15 passenger van that was leaking some sort of fluid, taking the kids to Mass, offers to babysit, offers to bring us clothes at the hospital, for tucking my little ones in at night for me and providing stability for them in our absence, for taking my out of the blue phone call to get in touch with a priest asap and then my not really explaining why we needed one most likely! :>) You all know who you are. :>) It has been a humbling time to have such a family and parish family outpouring of concern and help for us not only now, but after my emergency c-section and to welcome little William home, then with his failure to thrive problems and now this! I still have a bunch of thank you notes on my kitchen counter I have been slowly working on from the last two times everyone helped our family and now I am thanking you all yet again, so please forgive us if we have any of your dishes still and if you haven't received a thank you note yet! :>) A lot has happened in a short time and although sometimes "things just happen" I do wonder if God is trying to tell us something! :>) Anyway, we certainly can never thank you all enough for praying William through this recent illness and please continue praying for him as he grows that he will remain healthy and strong. Also pray for Bob and I as we catch up on sleep and time with all the other children. As my son David so delicately put it one morning over breakfast after the first time William had to go to the hospital, "Gee Mom, you look like you have aged 4 years!" And, yes, we do sort of feel as if we have aged 4 MORE years with all of the stress and worry for our little man this time around. It was a breath of consolation in the wee hours of the morning as we sat and worried about him in the hospital to know that we had prayer warriors praying for him at all hours since we felt so helpless otherwise. We can never thank you all enough.
God bless,
Kim, Bob, William and family
