You, know....
I don't even know where to begin - it is everything.
Listening to the country legends station and counting the days.
in FL
I’ve traveled all over the world, but I don’t think there is any place better than Texas. - Oilwell firefighter Red Adair
“Give me an army of West Point graduates and I'll win a battle. Give me a handful of Texas Aggies, and I'll win the war.”
General George S. Patton
“Some folks look at me and see a certain swagger, which in Texas is called "walking."
George W. Bush
“Texas does not, like any other region, simply have indigenous dishes. It proclaims them. It congratulates you, on your arrival, at having escaped from the slop pails of the other 49 states.”
Alistair Cooke
The Clinton administration launched an attack on people in Texas because those people were religious nuts with guns. Hell, this country was founded by religious nuts with guns. Who does Bill Clinton think stepped ashore on Plymouth Rock?”
P. J. O'Rourke quotes
Texas is . . .
" . . . a blend of valor and swagger."
-- Carl Sandburg, poet
"Texas is a state of mind. Texas is an obsession. Above all, Texas is a nation in every sense of the word."
--John Steinbeck, author
"Texas can make it without the United States, but the United States cannot make it without Texas!
-- Sam Houston, President of the Republic of Texas
"I think Texans have more fun than the rest of the world." -- Broadway choreographer and Wichita Falls native
-- Tommy Tune
"Nor is it the habit of Texans to look back. We have tradition of looking forward and not looking back to see where we have been or who is following us."
-- President Lyndon Johnson
"What Texans can dream, Texans can do."
-- President: George Walker Bush
Like most passionate nations, Texas has its own history based on, but not limited by, facts - John Steinbeck, Travels With Charlie, 1962

You know.. it's like Texas is the embodiement of the same sort of spirit that permiates all the back woods, hill billy, mountain men areas in all the states and that most states tend to be trying to forget.
Too bad it doesn't have a better climate

We want our own island. Sadly, it has nothing to do with weather or the ocean. We just want to be able to make our own decisions without interference from other people.

I am truly happy living where we do, in Oregon's beautiful Willamette Valley. We own a farm, and so I do not forsee us ever moving. However, if I could snap my fingers and make this happen, I would live where we do for half of the year (the farm season half) and then spend the second half of the year in Perugia, Italy.I lived there as a child, and love it there! As I said earlier, we are unlikely to ever move, and I have always envied people who do get to move. The fun of exploring a new location! Setting up a new home! Meeting new people!

I find it very interesting that all you PNW ladies seem the most satisfied with where you live right now. Makes me want to come visit even more!
