Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

BUMP! Because there are some great ideas in this thread and Mary linked a couple other archive threads at the beginning too.

And, I just thought we all needed oooh---- and ahhhhh---- at STef's amazing list again!    (and laugh at how well everything STILL goes with ---> cow tongue, baby.....cow tongue! )

And, add-on, please......What are your current favorite side dishes?????

2 Favorite Ways to cook Brussels Sprouts (must be fresh! anything else is oookey!)
1. throw into boiling water for a few minutes to soften, drain well, then skillet fry in real, salted butter until they have a nice brown crust.
2. halve brussels sprouts and put in a large baking dish with cauliflower florets, add 2-4 cloves minced garlic, drizzle with lots of olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast at 450 for at least 25 minutes, maybe 35 minutes--until fork tender.

My mother used to make brussels sprouts with red pepper flakes, but I can't remember the recipe. That was good too. But the sprouts have to be fresh. Frozen is gross, and I bought some at the grocery store the other day that were too old and they were way too strong. I either grow them or buy them at the Farmer's Market. There is a good natural foods store in town that sells them and they are pretty fresh. Regular grocery store=too risky for me.
