When are you taking yours down? I wanted to leave mine up until the very end of the christmas season (baptism of our Lord); but I am weakening and thinking of doing it tomorrow. When are you taking down?

We take it down the Saturday after Jan. 6 so it is up through the Epiphany.

Jan 7th, probably. no sooner than that, for sure. in actuality, i will probably take down everything else on the 7th, but the tree will be up a few more days.

One season I didn't get it down until Candlemas  which in the tradition of days gone by, was when the greenery was disposed of...
Mine always comes down sometime between Epiphany and Candlemas

Typically we leave it up as long as we can. Until it becomes a fire hazard!LOL!
But this year it is down already. Too soon, but I had to pack it up and get it out of the way so I could start packing for our move.

I usually wait til Epiphany but this blue spruce is tempting me to pitch it sooner! Never, ever again! Sharp needles and a rash and no nice smell! I will probably wait til Sunday at least which is on paper Epiphany although we really like to wait til traditional Epiphany on the 6th.

blue spruce are pretty but they're not "nice" trees
We'll wait until after Epiphany.. with a birthday coming up not too long after I like to have Christmas put away so I'm not dealing with both

We do Candlemas too, following tradition. But we don't have a big tree yet, and our little ones surround the children's altar and don't take up much space--if we were short on space, I would probably want it out of the way sooner for practical purposes. I suppose when we have a big tree, we'll take it down shortly after Epiphany and just leave the rest of the decorations and greenery until Candlemas.

Took it down tonight. My living room floor is now bare.
I have to make this living room carpet (the last area with carpet in the house) last another couple of years. We're renting a steam cleaner this weekend and everything had to be picked up.
I always leave our large nativity up through Epiphany which seems appropriate to me as it is the main focus following Christmas.

Dh's birthday is the 8th and he LOVES the tree, so it stays up until the morning of the 9th

We just put ours up on the 24th, so it is still a true pleasure to have around. Like many others , we leave our tree up until after Epiphany and possibly until Candlemas.
It is more or less the decision of my husband. I could keep it up for a loooooonnnnnnngg time. A friend of mine in S. Florida left it up the whole year! She does have a huge house (and a huge tree), and it is an artificial tree...her dh asked her to leave it up and so she did. I also think it was tons of work to get up and decorate.
Now, I wonder if she will still leave it up after this Christmas season? I'll have to ask her.

We leave our tree and Nativity up until Candlemas. We don't put these up until a few days before Christmas. We celebrate the entire Christmas season through the Baptism of the Lord,following the liturgical calendar, but keep the "spirit" of Christmas alive a bit through Feb.2nd. Two years ago, our church actually kept the Christmas decor up through Feb.2.as I have heard that the Vatican does. We love it this way.

Our tree is real and was only put up on 23rd, but I think it will be down on Epiphany as usual - this year, following the suggestions here, we will keep the nativity set on the mantlepiece through to Candclemas, but add back our crucifix and statues too - the mantlepiece is sort of our "altar"/prayer focus.

Today! With two boys under three, the poor thing is picked clean from about floor to three feet up. I'd love to keep it up longer as they get older and it becomes less of an oh-look-what-I-can-yank-off-or-yank-down tree. Our door wreath with stay up until epiphany and then be replaced by a Mardi Gras one.
