Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

One of the moms in our group owns a store and sells many boardgames. She had a sale for our group, and I really did take advantage of it! Here are some we got:

Treasure Ready Go!for our 5yods. He, my 8yods and my dh! love it! Dh thinks our oldest boys (adults) would have fun playing it with friends.

Ticket to Ridewith a Europe expansion pack. I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but the boys love it.

Backgammon for dh and me to play. We needed a new set!

And our biggest flop, simply due to the intensity of the instructions and ds is not quite old enough for it:
Axis and AlliesThe instruction book is just that, a book! I have heard that it is a good game, ds is just a bit too young for it. There are many web-sites devoted to it, including one that has the rules in more detail, and I am thinking I will have to work him into the game by utilizing these sites.

God Bless,
Stacy in MI

I found a really nice toy store a few towns away back in October and the owner had me playing Double Shutter at the checkout. I remembered how much I enjoyed it, so Santa left us one under the tree! I love that it is low-tech and combines both chance and a bit of strategy. (Can you tell I am the one who is a little obsessed?)

Bumping this one up as the hot summer looms ahead and we are spending more time inside....

I picked up the game Scoop on sale for cheap, cheap at Tuesday Morning, and it has been fun.

The directions were a little confusing, but as you play it all makes sense. And you have to be quick as the dice change and you try to build your ice cream cone. You do have to pay attention. However, with the ice cream theme, it is a perfect game for summer!

We got Quiddler for Christmas (I missed this thread back then!) and just love it. It's hard to understand at first but is really easy to understand once you get the hang of it. *Great* for teaching spelling!

We have enjoyed Sequence for years, and just taught our 9 yr old how to play.

We love UNO, and some of the Clue Jr. games...and of course, Scrabble/Scrabble Jr.!

I hit Goodwill on the 50% off Saturdays and get games and puzzles for $.50 - $2.00 maximum...find tons of great deals!
