Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is a fun thread to read on a cold snowy day!

My username is obviously my first name and last initial --boring I know!

My user name is also boring as I use an user name similar to the one assigned me at University (first initial, middle initial, last name).

I'm equally boring - my first and middle names. No creative juices left that day.

hehe...
Um,,,mine is my real name. I'm also terribly creative. My mom got my name from Gone With the Wind. It could've been worse I guess...I could've been Scarlet. Oops...I hope there's no Scarlet's here....

Well, MrsGranola became my alias way back when I lead LLL meetings online for AOL long, long ago. I needed a non-LLL name to be my off-duty screenname (my other was LLLJoAnna for Parent Soup).

I was considered "granola, crunchy, non-mainstream" etc. in my family since I was a breastfeeding, co-sleeping, Birkenstock-wearing, cloth-diapering, homeschooling, strange mom .... and I went to UNC-Chapel Hill which has a reputation of being very liberal and crunchy. So back in 1996 (about the time my Grace was born) I became known as "MrsGranola" online.

Cool thread!

Mine is a Latin play on my first and middle names. Celeste Marie means "Mary of the heavens" (which is why I took the Assumption as my name day when I converted to Catholicism), and Domina Caeli is a title for Our Lady that means roughly the same.

Ooo...I wanna play!
I'm not a very creative person by nature, but I don't like to have my real name out for just anyone at all to see. As I was reading in Butler's Lives of the Saints, I came across St. Syncletica and fell in love with the name. I would have loved to name one of my daughters that (ie. if we were to be blessed with more daughters), but it's a no-go name to my dh. So, I chose it for myself to use on some forums I've joined. St. Syncletica, pray for us!

Way back when, on the CCM list, I was teachingmy4. But then I had five, then six, and so on. I kept changing my email address but they just kept coming! So, when I joined here, I thought I would play it safe and go with "teachingmyown" rather than worry about having the wrong number. That was two kids ago!

By the way, MaryMary, I sing that Monkees song to myself every time I read one of your posts!

Great thread!

Years ago I had some name tags made for clothing and shortened my long first name just so I wouldn't have to sew as much . A friend of mine started calling me Saint Linden, which really confused me, until he pointed out my name tags - "St.Linden". It was totally unintentional and at the realization we had a great laugh! So, I once again shortened my name and added my middle name - Ann without an E. As I love St. Ann(e) and any artistic depictions of the Holy 3 Generations (Maria Selbdritt). There you have it.

It's Italian for teacher. It's pronounced ihn-sehn-YAHN-tay. Or maybe someone else could do a better job representing the pronunciation than I can.

I'm not of Italian descent, and I've never lived in Italy. I studied it in high school and college but never got past the intermediate level. I love language, but originally studied Italian just because I thought it sounded pretty.

The only reason I chose this for my username was that I am really not good at thinking up usernames and had to make some sort of decision eventually.

I even posted recently inquiring about whether I might be one of the few who changes her username with the help of a moderator, because I have disliked my choice for a long time.

I always figured it was because you were shy or something. I got called a "mouse" when I was in grammar school.

i also use folklaur on one board, and FaerieLore on another.

most people in real life call me "lore" or "laur" - w/o adding the final "a" - which is fine with me, as i do not like my name much. it has never felt like it fit.

Not till I'd been out of NYC for a while did I realize that to some people Laura and Lora/Laurie and Lori are not pronounced the same! So you're a Lora Laura, not a Lahra Laura, huh?

When I first joined the group, I used holyhomesmom for my user name. I just couldn't think of what I wanted to call myself, but knew I wanted to strive for a holy home. Then when I saw it in print, it seemed so.... well..... so like I have a holy home. AND of course, it is what I yearn for, but not what I have. SO I changed my user name to Greengables - which is the name we use to refer to our farm.
