Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

After reading Chris V's adventures with avatar's, I became curious about everyone's "Pen-name" they've chosen for themselves here on 4Real.

May I ask why you've chosen the name you have?

Who would like to play?

I'll start! Nique is my Husband's nickname for me

I love goofy parody songs. There's a Ray Stevens song called "Guitarzan" that made the rounds on Dr. Demento many years ago. My given name fits in well with that title...and I've played the guitar for (blushing) 37 years as of this Christmas...

Oh, what a FUN thread, Nique!!! Let's see...well, I chose Mackfam because when I signed up I was really clueless! I wasn't sure if I was supposed to use my first name! And, I had no clue the username would become synonymous with ME! It's funny...for some reason people see M-A-C-K-F-A-M...but read M-A-C-K-F-A-R-M! Anyway, Mackfam is an abbreviation of our last name - Mackintosh - and the addition of *fam*. If I had been smart...and I kick myself because I ***almost*** did this...I would have chosen *jenmack* which is what all my friends call me! But, I'm Mackfam!

i live in the desert. i love mice. so - cactusmouse.

i am cactusmouse on many boards i am on. some people just call me 'mouse.

i also use folklaur on one board, and FaerieLore on another.

most people in real life call me "lore" or "laur" - w/o adding the final "a" - which is fine with me, as i do not like my name much. it has never felt like it fit.

Wow. another ChrisV in the group!! My nom-de-plume is rather boring... first name, last initial, month and (ahem) year of birth.

Mine came from a personalized license plate my dh saw when out on the road one day. It just said "Amyable" (meaning "amiable" I suppose). We joke that if I'm "Amyable" he must be "Edable" I like that it reminds me to be nice.

I dislike my user name. I think I probably tried a few different things that were taken before settling on this one just so I could ask "one" question, lol. And look at me today! But if I change it, no one will know who I am!

Well, mine is boring. I wasn't sure what to do when I joined the board. I wonder if there's any way to sign off, then sign on again, with a different name, so i can be more creative?

Being completely new to the forum, I really (obviously) put no thought into my user name Chris V...not exactly creative by any measure. I suppose I'm new enough that it won't matter if I change it because nobody knows who I am!

Chris, of course, is my first name (short for Christine); and V is what my last name starts with!...maybe I could come up with something unique too...or maybe not

I wanted to give glory to our Lady...but I was so ignorant...I didn't realize the name referred to me! So I'm not "the star of the sea"...Mary is, of course...but think of her guiding me and that's the idea I wanted to convey. I should have picked "Fidget", my dh's nickname for me (I'm really short and "fidget" was what the Little Rascals called a midget)...but then you'd all know FOR SURE that I'm a lot goofier than I seem on this forum
. You have no idea how many ridiculous, tongue-in-cheek posts I've deleted. It's embarrassing to be so silly sometimes!

Maddie, short for Madeline, was my "Cordelia" name. I could tell you my real name, but could you call me Cordelia?

Always loved the name Maddie!

Fun thread, "Nique"!

As a joke, many friends greet me with, "Mary Mary quite contrary...." In high school, some friends would hum the first few words of this song when I approached. I never knew where that song came from. Then somewhere along the line, I saw Monkees reruns on tv and figured it out!

I love threads like this!

I wasn't very creative when I signed up. I always envy those who have such cute, creative forum names.

Mine is :Jen" since that's my name! (Well short for Jennifer!) And "Pre" because that's the first three letters of my last name!

"Hylabrook" is a Robert Frost poem, dh's favorite. It tells of a brook that is much loved in the summer, when it is pretty, and then often overlooked/under-appreciated in less attractive seasons. The last line speaks about those who truly love the brook, regardless of its external appearance, saying, "We love the things we love, for what they are". Those words are inscribed inside my wedding band. Dh has his romantic moments...

Peace,
Nancy

Nancy, I've got goosebumps thinking about the depth of the poem, your ring! and your name...to have such meaning...

*AWE*some.
