Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have just spent *entirely* too much time trying to figure out how to get a simple picture, of teeny-weeny, itsy-bitsy size to sit quietly next to my name. What an ordeal...even putting on a Mickey Mouse for my children while I spend that time trying to make it work...(where are my priorites this Friday morning?).

So, in my efforts, I wanted to say "Thank You" to those of you who have done the same. I am the type of person who really enjoys "seeing" the person I'm talking to, or more importantly, listening to. Putting a face with a name! Thank you!

Now, off to do something a little more important with my time! Like maybe figuring out what a "Forum Code" is...

Cute pic!

Thanks, Chris! I've been meaning to post for ages that I love photo avatars. They really help me get to know the people posting.

But I remember it being a real headache when I loaded mine. Is anyone able to offer a simple tutorial for others who want to add one?

I would love to add a picture too but every time I try it tells me my pictures are too large! I got so frustrated I just went with the candle! Any helpful tips?

Your avatar is very cute, Chris... I'm glad you got it working.

Gina, if you have a bit map editor on your computer -- you can shrink a picture to the right size.

Another option is getting a free account on photobucket -- they shrink photos to thumbnail size for you.

photobucket

There are probably other ways to do it that I don't know about.

Here's some info on forum codes -- but they are not essential

I like seeing them too, but I know not everyone is comfortable posting pictures on a public forum (myself included) so what I try and do is come up with a personal avatar.. in my case it's my black kitties.. which change with the seasons.

Oh, Jodie, I should have expanded my avatar enthusiasm to include anyone who takes the time to put up a unique one. They help a lot, too!

For me, I just used the "Edit" within the Microsoft Picture Manager. Then I chose to "Compress" my picture to make sure it was smaller than 15KB. But, it took me such a long time to figure this out! If the picture itself to too large (with regard to pixels) then compressing it won't work either. So most of my time was spent trying to find a suitable picture that wasn't too large to being with.

Of course! I meant no offense at all, and certainly don't under-appreciate anyone's service to the forum, just because they may not have a picture

Hmmmmm..I might have to try this.
And maybe figure out how to get a nice sig line, instead of always typing, Anne, after everything I write. Sigh, maybe someday...
Me,
Anne
Oh, and I even enjoy the non-photo ones--just a little personalization. Its neat. My favorite is the Tide avatar with Jesus gets the Sin out. I love it!!

Signature lines are easy Anne.

Just click on settings in the upper right group of options.. then on "edit profile" and scroll down to find the section for your "signature".. type in what you want and save it.. and voila there you are.

I usually have my picture but I was posting recently on a thread and got sick of seeing my face so much so I changed it! ;-)

If you make your image 64 px x 64 px it will be the exact right size.

If anyone can't figure out how to do it send me* your image and I'll do it for you.

*My e-mail is in my profile.

You know, Jodie, I was wondering about your avatar. Are you trying to tell us that you aren't really a cute little black kitty?

Peace,
Nancy

nope not really.. but I did own a black kitty when I started using one as my avatar, we lost him several years ago now. Then over the years I've managed to find ones I can change by season or part of the season (some seasons are long enough I have more than one)

My current one is the excited for winter one

then Christmas

winter is dreary

spring is giving hints

Spring/early summer

Summer is hot

School/start of fall

Fall

Then I have a couple that I don't use often but are more generic than seasonal..

It's true! Michele kindly took my squashed avatar pic and magically resized it and made me look human again!

The question is... How often do we have to update it? My avatar's three years old now -- should I try to find a more up-to-date, wrinkly version ?
