Jodie, for the Lil Smokies: par cook bacon, cut into thirds, wrap around smokies (use toothpicks), dredge in brown sugar, bake at 350 for 30 minutes. It's absolutely delicious.
Normally, we do turkey, but this year we are having to go down to my mom's instead of everyone coming here. So, we'll have ham, scalloped potatoes, sweet potato bake, green beans and probably one other vegetable.
Not sure about dessert.

Our big meal is on Christmas Eve with four families.
~not sure on the appetizers
~strawberry jello salad
~ham - honey baked
~roasted turkey
~squash casserole
~dressing
~homemade cranberry sauce
~sweet potato casserole
~brown rice casserole
~marinated carrots
~greens
~green beans
~corn pudding
~croissants
~birthday cake for Jesus
~cream cheese pie

~I know there are a few sides I am forgetting...
Christmas morning is Mass then breakfast of breakfast casserole, fruit, smoothies, and bagels.
Christmas Day through dinner is just snacking on leftovers whenever.
New Year's Eve is appetizers, fruit, and veggies all day.
New Year's Day is ham, black eyed peas & rice, greens.
This is pretty much how it is every year for us.

that is *the best cake ever*. i have re-developed a milk allergy, but i eat this cake anyway, and just deal with the repercussions the next few days - i love it that much. it is the only kind i ever request for my bday.

We'll be having Christmas Eve brunch at my Dad and step-mom's with my side of the family.
Christmas Eve dinner at home will be a semi-traditional Polish Wigilia meal: fresh keilbasa, pierogis, rye and pumpernickel breads, green beans and some sort of dessert.
Christmas Day (after Mass: pecan coffee cake with coffee or cocoa).
Christmas day dinner: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.
Have a Blessed Advent,
Mary

This year we are having a leg of lamb on Christmas Eve...a total break from tradition...we usually simply have pizza or tacos...but I couldn't resist, for the price was right, and I just bought some fun new spices that I want to try out!
So, I guess it will be leg of lamb, savory sweet potatoes and haricot verts with pecans...and lots of cookies and homemade chocolates for dessert.
I'll be making truffles in about 5 minutes! YUM!

Carnberry glazed ham, wild rice with Italian sausage dressing, yummy yams, roasted aspargus tips, fruit salad with whipped cream, and cranberry conserve. For dessert, pumpkin cheesecake.
We always have Christmas morning coffe cake and sausage for breakfast. The cake is a family recipe that I grew up with and my teens love it. The sausage has changed over the years from Elgin sausage (from Texas where I grew up) to apple and pork sausage here in Wales. I might go for the chipolte sausage that I discovered at the market this summer.

Christmas is at my parents' this year. This is the first Christmas she hasn't had to work in over a decade and she is going all out. Chateau Briand, roast goose and honey ham!

Everyone's menus sound delicious. I've finalized our plans: I'm going to use this recipe for hot artichoke-spinach dip, along with some french bread. We also picked up a small box of roasted vegetable appetizers at the store as a treat. And we'll have a nice salad as well. (Along with leftovers from the Christmas Eve feast at my parents', I'm sure!) But the star of the show will really be the baking I finished earlier in the week that is waiting in the freezer for Christmas day: peppermint bark, early layer bars, peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies, gingersnaps...
