I heard from 4 lads mom a few minutes ago. Surgery has been canceled and rescheduled for December 18. It seems that Lily's surgery was pushed back far enough that there were significant concerns about not having adequate anesthesiology support. The family is headed home right now (a 3 hour drive) to try to beat the blizzard. It was snowing as we were talking, but they hoped to get ahead of the storm, the brunt of which is supposed to set in by tomorrow morning. 4 lads mom will update again in the morning.
Join me in praying for their safe travel home, and continuing to pray for Lily and her surgery. May Our Lady continue to guide this surgery date and surgeon/anesthesiologist/medical support so that all takes place on the right day with a successful outcome for Lily!

Well, we'll just have to keep praying for the family as they wait for God's own timing - and for the perseverence to gracefully deal with all the delays. In the meantime, praying for a safe arrival home ahead of any blizzard.

O my goodness! Praying 4 Lads Mom. What a day you've had. I just got home an hour or so ago and this storm is bad, please pray them home. Visibility is not good!

It took four hours to get home.......usually it is just under three.....it was UNREAL out there, I can't believe that was just the beginning of the storm.
So.....as the evening wore on, the anesthesiologist and surgeon expressed the concern that as it got later, they would have less staff in the OR, only three anesthesia docs, and one was in middle of yet another emergency surgery.....a ruptured appendix...so there were only two available. If Lily started to crash, they didn't feel comfortable with only two available. At that point, they weren't getting us back into the OR until at least Midnight, or later!! We didn't feel comfortable, if they were expressing a lot of concern.
I told my oldest as we walked away from our doctor meeting, "Well, it is Our Lady's day and I think she has spoken", to which he replied, "Couldn't she have spoken a little sooner?"
I am sure Lily is completely confused at this point, two surgery fire drills in six weeks.....poor girl. I am thankful that my children all handled it beautifully, and my husband did an amazing job getting us home through one of the worst storms either of us have driven through, ever!! We'll see what God has in store for us at our third attempt.
I am so touched by your prayers.....thank you!!!!

Glad you made it home safe! I'll be praying for the next surgery date. So much to go through for your family...as if the palate surgery isn't enough!
Blessings,
Lisa

Praying here.
The 18th is the feast of The Expectation of Our Lady, maybe it could be the day to expect Lily's surgery - here's hoping!
