ohhh ... I REALLY didn't need to know that such a thing as chocolate-covered bacon exists. (and where's the emoticon suitable for a drooling, slobbering, 3rd trimester-enhanced craving?)
enjoy, Mary!!

A little update - when dh got home to night and we told him about it, he informed us that he saw the box in the street this AM when he left for work and moved it onto the sidewalk in case someone came for it. That actually makes more sense and what I figure happened is that at a delivery somewhere in the neighborhood when the driver was arranging boxes, it probably got placed on the bumper (the trucks have wide bumpers). Then while driving around it finally fell off (right in front of our house ).
You will probably laugh about this. We did decide to open it up and had it for part of the Civil War football game watching party treats tonight (UO graduate dh)- along with team color M & Ms and chips. Mmmmmmm bacon....
And when I coined the term "bacon fairy" I "thought" I was being quite clever and original. Like Bridget I picture a manly fairy wrapped in bacon instead of flower petals.
But then I googled images and found this...
- yes, you can still believe

It seems you have covered all avenues checked in with company, checked with nieghbors, etc...
The box was sealed and not tampered with (night animals and such) I would probably use it and what should you feel guilty about?? ENJOY

If pigs could fly, this just might happen to the rest of us...Instead of a cute little cupid style fairy, I imagine a porker with wings delivering your "treats from Heaven". Or, maybe St. Nicholas got an early start in your neighborhood, eh! Enjoy! Don't forget bacon is delicious on pizza...mixed with pepperoni and/or sausage it would make a fabulous lasagna!
BTW, companies usually write such incidents off as a loss...it would cost them more than it's worth in man hours, gas, and lost time for other deliveries to retrieve the package.

Okay. That bacon fairy is hilarious. And the emoticon made me giggle. What a great thread. This is just too funny.
