Here is the latest update on Clare, she is still in much need of prayer:
Greg (Clare's dh) wrote:
G’day,
January 21 (Day 4 of new Consolidation Chemo treatment). Clare is starting to feel the impact of the chemo on her body. Feeling tired and her mouth starting to change slightly and taste buds are being impacted. This chemo is only 5 days long and the last does of chemo will be administered on Friday. Her haemoglobin count is down to 89 already and she will require a blood transfusion in the next day or so.
The results of the bone marrow matching of Clare’ siblings are back and none of them are a match. The transplant unit at the Royal Brisbane Hospital have started looking through the National Bone Marrow Register to see if a there is a match. There is no indication of how long this will take. This is critical as Clare really needs a bone marrow transplant to be cured by the doctors. Ongoing chemo will probably not be enough to contain the Leukaemia.
It is likely that Clare will go into early menopause with this round of chemo. This has had a big impact on Clare bringing home the impact on her body from the Leukaemia and its treatment.
Please pray for a successful chemotherapy treatment, that a bone marrow donor is found (St Anthony can help here) and for Clare to find the mental and physical strength to continue to soldier on through the treatment that lies ahead.
Thank you for all the help that all of you have provided all of it helps Clare to fight this Leukaemia

Anne,
I just saw this...your friend will be in our prayers. My husband was diagnosed with AML last Feb. so our family is acutely aware of the cross your friend and her family are bearing. DH did not need a transplant but he is in remission, thanks be to God. I am also a "retired" bone marrow transplant nurse and have seen many people with bleak prognosis survive, thrive, and even go on to have more children. There is hope, though it is so hard to see when you feel so terrible.

Here is Greg's latest update on Clare:
Quote:
G’day,
January 28 (Day 11). Time for big prayers again!
Clare has hit that stage where she has no immune system again and the infections have set in. A few drama’s have ensued again. Please God thins won’t go as far as the ICU again.
She’s probably got a week of this to get through and hopefully cell counts should start picking up again.
Once again we are in the doctors and God’s hands.

Thank you so much for keeping these prayers going, they are so greatly needed, I've just received the latest update, I think St Anthony's intercession is order:
Quote:
G’day everyone,
We saw the transplant Physician tonight, Dr Moreton. He indicated that there had been no bone marrow matches from the Australian Bone Marrow Register. The search has now gone to the international register. Please pray that a donor is found.
Clare needs to have a bone marrow transplant.
Her bone marrow is just starting to recover after her recent chemotherapy treatment.
Thank you
