Oh wow, Anne! I'm so grateful for the update! I'll up my prayers for Clare and her family! May God sustain them with the strength and fortitude needed for the road ahead, and may this treatment usher in healing and wellness for Clare!

3rd UPDATE: This is the message I received today:
"More prayers please. Clare is having a bone marrow biopsy tomorrow to check status of remission and a lumbar puncture to inject chemo into spine as normal chemo treatment does not get in there. Still at home but will return to the hospital full time next week. No suitable donar for bone marrow was found."

4th UPDATE: Here is Clare's latest update from her husband Greg:

G'day
January 12. The results of the tests done last week are in. The bone marrow biopsy shows that Clare is still in remission and the spinal cord fluid test shows there is no sign of leukaemia in the spinal cord. These are both good solid results.
However, even with these good results Clare will still need a bone marrow transplant and consolidation chemo while the preparations are made for the bone marrow transplant. At this stage the bone marrow transplant is at least 6 weeks away if not longer.
The specialists are also discussing when to do radiation treatment on Clare’ back to hopefully remove the chloroma on her back that is causing issues with her bladder use.
The specialist said that remission for acute myeloid leukaemia is like putting a lion in a cage that can’t be locked. It is only a matter of time before the lion nudges the door and gets out again and you are back at the beginning. Only the second time around it is harder to tame the lion and put it back in the cage and you may not get the lion back in at all. Each time the lion escapes it gets harder and harder to put it back in the cage and you need to use different tricks.
So remission is a good platform to start the next round of treatment it is not the end. Clare has up to six months of treatment ahead of her.

My prayers continue, Anne. I can empathize very well how this hangs over Clare and her family - the idea that any remission is never permanent. I will add prayers for peace and the ability to find joyful moments amidst the crazy chaos of treatment and of course I pray that this treatment is successful and ushers in a period of health!
