i use Active Topics.

however, although i know it is supposed to show me everything since my last log in (or however it's set..) i also know sometimes i miss things because it doesn't show them.

so sometimes i poke around too.

but usually i just use active topics....

I'm back to explain my combo approach...

For the forums that I moderate and those that I want to focus on for personal reasons, I go to the forum, scroll down to the bottom of the page, click "Watch this forum for new posts" which sends them to my email. I have a sub-file in my inbox where 4Real posts only are sent directly. While in the file, I sort them by subject. I tend to the forums that I moderate, first, then go to other forums when I have time.

When I'm done with that and if I have time, I click on the Active Topics to see what's going on at the board as a whole. If I have missed this step for a long stretch, I don't tend to back-track. I just "show topics" for the day.
