This is so heart breaking. I'm glad you are her friend. Please add me to the list of women to do something tangible for Nicole...and surely I will be praying for a miracle and offer masses for her and her family.

I lie here on bedrest weeping. I will most certainly pray for a miracle. God bless her for her courage and grace as she faces death. What a witness for us! God be with you and her family as you deal with your grief.

She'll be in Florida this week, hoping a change of scenery will do her good. Let's also pray that the pain doesn't interfere with the R&R. She's taken to staying home lately because it's so difficult to get comfortable elsewhere.
Just a note, her cancer is in her bile ducts and they've had a difficult time determining origin. It's not breast cancer. The fact that the docs are agreeing to give Herceptin a try is a great thing, but it also points up the fact that they don't have much in their arsenal...

Oh Elizabeth, praying, praying, praying! I can't get Nicole out of my mind. Our entire family prayed for her during the "elevation" at Mass today.

Oh a ray of hope--I pray that Nicole will have a blessed and peaceful time in FL this coming week and that the hereceptin will help her battle this cancer. Will continue to pray and offer sacrifices for her and her family...

Elizabeth, praying with you for a miracle for Nicole. Praying that the pain doesn't interfere with her R&R in Florida. And that the Herceptin combined with our prayers will be unbeatable.

You and your friend Nicole may already know about this but on the off chance that you haven't...
Apparantly, clinical trials suggest that taking GLA (gamma-linolenic acid, a healthy fat in primrose oil) with Herceptin makes abnormal breast cells 30 times more likely to respond to treatment. I read this in the Jan 31 issue of Women's World magazine... not sure how accurate it is but thought I'd mention it in case you didn't know and found it helpful.

Elizabeth, Like Brenda........I cannot get Nicole out of my thoughts.........I offered up prayers for her, all my rosaries since you have posted, and Mass and the Consecration today...and, I am about to go pray my second rosary today........she can have that, too........and also for you, as you help her.

How completely Nicole's suffering dwarfs my puny complaints. I am praying for her and will continue to pray. May Our Lady who understands completely Nicole's agony as a mother wrap her mantle around her and shower her with her love. And thank-you God for the gift of life which I constantly take for granted.
