Do you know anyone who could drive all of you to the hospital just for a special Christmas Eve or Christmas Day visit? Maybe you could have the children work on preparing some kind of special surprise or gift (probably a home-made project, like a gigantic Christmas/Get Well card), so that they concentrate on the project and how happy that will make Mom, rather than thinking so much about her absence? This whole situation has got to be one of the hardest things I can imagine!
Prayers for all of you and prayers and hugs for Steph.
Peace,
Nancy

Yes, this is the time to say, "Why, yes!" to anyone who offers help. Then, tell them transportation (and meals!) are the best help they can give.
I would also sit the children down and talk about a Plan A (Mom comes home by Christmas) and a Plan B(she is still in the hospital) and work on making Christmas happen with them either way. Then, if you have to tell them she can't come home, they will have already thought through how that might work. (Can you tell I have been in the hospital with young children at home?)
You are not a nuisance at all! We want to pray you through all of this...you're too far away, otherwise I'd lend you a car (we are about 11 hours' drive, I think, sigh).
Praying hard for all of you...

Everyone has given such good advice throughout a very stressful time. As Nancy said, develop a plan with the children to celebrate Christmas regardless of what happens. And if you can take them all to the hospital (with a very big homemade card), I think that would be great.
Keeping you and your family in prayer.

My prayers continue for all of you!
Remember that Our Lady made all of her preparations in her heart as she made a place for Our Little Lord! St. Joseph's offerings were humble as well, but sincere and full of trust!
May the peace and beauty of preparation that takes place within the heart during this holy season bring all of you great joy as you trust Him, His plan, His timing, and accept the gift of His Cross!
I'm offering prayers for all of you.

Steph has had yet another severe reaction to an antibiotic. It took longer this time than the last, but there is an allergy none the less.
I'll be trying to get over there either tonight (hopefully) or tomorrow. Hopefully by then we'll have reached a point of success. The longer this infection goes untreated, the worse it can be. It's definitely taking its toll on Steph.
At least she ate a full meal today. That's good news. Thanks again for all the prayers folks.

Hi everyone. I just thought I would let you know they finally found a compatible antibiotic for Steph last night. They told me when I called.
Now I have to go tend to kids with sniffles, coughs and fevers. Not sure if I'll have anything else to update for the rest of the day, however if anything comes up, I'll be sure to let you know.

Please pray for Steph again today. She's on her way to Radiology to have her lungs x-rayed as they think she might have bronchitis or pneumonia.
If this is the case (pneumonia), we can forget Christmas at home. There is no way the doc will release her at that point.

Well, I sit here with a heavy heart to tell you all that Steph has pneumonia. She is on double the antibiotics now, in addition to pumps and oxygen as needed (which is pretty much all the time from what I hear from the nurses).
