I too will be praying for this dear child.
As a foster parent who has fostered a child severely abused and neglected, I know there is hope and there can be healing. I will pray for this child and for all those involved in the situation including the parents, the doctors, the social workers, the foster parents, and child's guardian ad litem, and the judges.

I know this was posted some time ago but I wanted to update. I have been to the hospital with my friend to visit this precious child. She is improving by leaps and bounds. The doctor told my friend that her improvement is unexplainable because of the amount of brain damage she suffered. She was supposed to have been a "vegetable". Here's what my friend wrote in her latest email:
*** and I spent the day with *** yesterday and I thought I'd send along a progress report. She is now sitting for several seconds at a time unassisted and beginning to stand a little while leaning on an exercise ball. They are working very hard at trying to get her to recognize the right side of her body. She rarely moves either her leg or arm and never purposefully. She just ignores it entirely and gets mad when you make her notice it. I'm sure it is very frustrating for her. She has been very good natured though and smiles now with a full smile and even laughs outloud. She is also babbling lots and trying out different words here and there. This past week I took her to **** for an appointment with her neurologist and gastroenterologist. Our first adventure out went much better than I thought it would! She will have her skull flap replaced the beginning of February and her feeding tube was converted to what they call a "button". She won't be using it much longer though as she is eating VERY well. All in all she is moving forward wonderfully! We have a tentative date home for the beginning of February.
While you continue to pray for her please keep in mind the lawyers and judge who will be beginning the process of prosecuting both mom and boyfriend this month. It has been odd getting to know mom and I am grateful that someone else is responsible for the law.
Finally, please continue to pray for our family. I am again struggling a bit with what God has asked of us....
