Update:At my last OB apt. I went in with a list of things/concerns to talk over with the doctor and she surprised me with her own list. She informed me that with my previous history of many pregnancies, 2 c-sections and miscarriage and a standing diagnosis of complete placenta previa that I am at a 60% chance of it also being placenta accreta and possibly placenta percreta. She has made an apt. with a high risk OB specialist in the big hospital an hour away. She said that I will need to bank blood as I get closer (I'm now at 25wks) and will probably have to take steroid shots to develope the baby's lungs faster in case of early delivery, which she tells me I'm at risk for as well. This apt. with the specialist is scheduled for Nov. 16th, this coming Monday. It will be a consult and they will also do a level 2 ultrasound. If the results are inconclusive then I will have to have an MRI. This apt. is very important because it will hopefully tell us exactly what we are up against and based on the findings we will know how to proceed. There is a good chance that I will be having the baby at the big hospital instead of our own smaller local hospital. Especially if it turns out that I will have to be put under for surgery. I was appreciative for the doctors openness and thoroughness with me, but it seemed to confirm all my fears as well. I am praying the St. Anne novena at night right before bed with my husband. We are on day 7 of the novena. I was having a hard time getting to sleep and then staying asleep with all the ramblings I have going on in my head. Saying the novena has helped this. I owe a big thanks to Elizabeth Foss for her pregnancy prayer booklet that she shared as a pdf file.
Anyway, this is where I stand for now. I would appreciate any and all prayers that you could spare for me and my baby. I cherish every precious kick and nudge.
Thank you and God bless!

I will continue my prayers for you and the baby, Kelly! High risk seems scary, but thanks be to God that in His generosity He has offered us some of this technology to ASSIST life!
Keep praying...and I'll be praying for you!!!
I thought of this as a way of keeping your heart focused on pondering the miracle of nurturing life within you...it's an old, old thread from here, but there's so much there that's SO very good...Sanctifying Pregnancy.

Another Update:
I have good news and bad news. I posted some of this on my blog last Tuesday, I think it was. On Monday the 16th I had my apt. with the high risk OB specialist and his findings came back negative for placenta accreta and percreta. Hooray!
However, he also said that I do still have a complete placenta previa and that it will not move up at this point. It is there for the duration of the pregnancy.
Yesterday morning, Sunday, as I was getting ready for Mass with family I had bleeding. I had a 24 hour stay in the hospital for careful observation. They gave me steroid shots to prepare the baby's lungs faster just in case of early delivery. I also found out that along with needing to have a blood supply ready for me, that I, myself cannot bank any blood because they discovered I am anemic. Ugh. I was released today on orders of complete bed rest. The key is to get the baby as far along as possible inside the womb. The doctor also warned me that bleeding is just one of the symptoms of previa which I knew, but she added that once a patient has bled that the chance of it happening again with heavier blood loss goes up exponentially. As does the risk of preterm labor. ---BTW, I am 27 weeks along today.
I know you have already been praying for me and I thank you and appreciated it so very much. I would like to ask you to continue your prayers for my baby boy, myself and my other children and husband as we all try to cope with these new challenges.
Thank you and God bless you!

I'm praying and praying some more, Kelly. This may not be helpful to you but I'll feel like I'm doing something to help...here's the iron supplement that I've been taking for several months. And here's a topic on anemia.
thanks for updating .
Love,

Oh, Kelly, how Our dear Lord is generous in asking us to stretch in trust!
Now is the time to make a few phone calls from a reclined position to get family members to bank blood for you. My dad and my brother banked for me when I was in this situation and it was a great comfort.
Facing the uncertainty of a high risk pregnancy serves in a very unique way to prioritize and distill down to the real essentials! Your prayer life is about to grow in gigantic proportions as you drop to your knees in this suffering. Claim these treasured moments of quiet and inactivity joyfully - there is great grace to be claimed in these moments! Give yourself permission to love this child dearly right now. Do not allow tomorrow intrude on your ability to love and cherish this child in this moment. I will ask your guardian angel to assist you in vigilantly guarding your thoughts against "what if" scenarios. And, with the other ladies, I will continue to storm heaven for you, this precious child, and all the caregivers who are working so hard to protect your health and this baby's life.
to you, Kelly! You know you can come to us at any time if you feel the weight of this Cross is pressing heavily. Allow us to help you carry this.
