Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am begging for prayers.
I'm suffering through what I think is another miscarriage, making this three losses in the past year.
My sister is due the same day (Thanksgiving) I was due with miscarriage number 2, and I see her almost everyday.
With the changing of the seasons, shorter, colder days, and the horrible cycles I have had in between the losses (usually 17-19 days long) I am really falling apart.
I feel so horrible that I am not able to appreciate the children I have, as I am so sad about the ones I have lost.
My youngest is almost five, and begs for a baby multiple times a day.
I can't sleep, and locally seem to be surrounded by women my age or older (38) pregnant, or "done" , and peaceful about it.
I know I should be SO grateful for 5 beautiful blessings, but instead feel so empty.

Oh Lisa It really doesn't matter how many lovely children you have. Each baby lost deserves to be mourned. And it's ok to feel grief and to do just that. Seeing those around you that appear (notice it's only APPEAR) to be perfectly happy and content can hurt, just like any open wound can hurt when it's bumped or poked. It doesn't mean that you're mean or anything else just because their situation reminds you of yours.

Miscarriages are hard on your body and on your emotions. My midwife told me that post partum depression is higher for a miscarriage because your body has such a hard adjustment plus you don't have a baby in your arms at the end.

Sometimes you need to give yourself permission to grieve, so that you can do that and start healing.. but it will still take time.. and even then it's a bittersweet feeling as you look at the children you do have and know that one is missing.

Also you need to help yourself physically. You could be anemic and that makes everything hard for instance. Blood loss from a miscarriage and those fast cycles would definately contribute to that. So be kind to yourself physically, get as much rest as you can, and replenish the nutrients you've lost, rebuild blood supply.

And if the PPD is really bad, you may need to get extra help with that.

But this won't just go away and you won't just "get over it".

And send that precious 5 yr old off to speak to God about more babies.

I'm praying for you! I've had one miscarriage and it was heartbreaking. Definitely let yourself grieve.

Praying for another little blessing for you, if it's God's will.

Oh, Lisa, what a difficult cross you're being asked to carry.

I see so much wisdom and hope in Jodie's post and I echo it all! Allow yourself time to grieve, and do seek help from a trusted midwife or doctor if you feel that this goes beyond deep and painful grieving into serious depression.

You've been handed a heavy cross, and I'm so sorry that you are meeting this pain again.   I know how hard it is to meet that dear friend/loved one who is expecting joyfully while there are still splinters from the cross in your own hands. It's not easy to meet those moments with joy or even peace. I'm always aware that there are those that are not with us around the table or in my arms, and it never stops hurting really, we just get farther from the moment of the most intense pain and that gives me a little more perspective and ability to love them as God intended them to be - always beholding His face.

Offering up for you today, Lisa! May Our Lord grant you peace and mercy as you walk with this broken .
