Dh began night shift this evening and will be working four nights on, one night off at least until mid-November. These are 12-hour shifts. I'm trying desperately to take it one night at a time, but he's been gone half an hour and I've already found myself drifting into thoughts of "how am I ever going to do this for six more weeks?!"
Please pray for me to be able to take it one night at a time and not get overwhelmed with the how-am-I-evers.
Please pray for him also, that he handle the upset of his sleep schedule well and stay healthy.
Please pray for our family's health in general. The children and I seem to either be unable to completely shake a bug or we are catching one upon another. As so many of you know, it is very draining!
Thank you for tucking these among the many more pressing intentions here. Know I am praying for all your intentions! God bless you!

Praying for you and your husband.
My husband has been working out of town for 5 weeks now so far and at first I was thinking the same thng...."how am I ever going to do this". But once the first week is over it does seem to get easier as everyone adjusts and gets in the groove of the new schedule. (The first week is rough though ).

Praying with empathy. My husband had the world's weirdest watchbill schedule a few years ago and it was a tough adjustment.
Idea: Once in a while, take a day off when your husband is off (and awake). Take the family time...you'll be glad you did.

We have done the same thing and it is tough. Like Nancy said, take some family time and work around your dh's schedule. You will be glad that you did! Keeping you and your family in prayer.

Dh worked frequently rotating shifts for 17 years, and it was hard. The never-ending bug is no fun, either.
Praying for all of you.

Thank you, ladies. One night down--insomnia, baby cried intermittently for two hours (until 10:30), and too much computer time, but overall pretty well. I think the sore throat I have from the latest bug is God's way of keeping me from raising my voice at the kids while I'm adjusting. I have not seen dh to find out how he is--this afternoon I guess.

Praying for you and your dear family!
One thing that helps me sleep is placing my Guardian Angel and the Angels of our whole family AND St. Michael ( my buddy...I just couldn't do it without his friendship)over everything and everyone so that I can confidently let go and go to sleep.
That, and praying a full rosary as the kids are sleeping...the peace is a wonderful blanket!
Praying for you!

Oh, I wondered how the night went for you, so glad that first night is over!
Donna Marie took the words out of my mouth, pray through the intercession of the angels for protection and peace.

4 on 1 off, that's tough! My dh does 4 on 4 off 12 hr shifts at the moment, 2 being night shift. It makes things hard doesn't it. I'll be praying for you all.
God bless.

I will pray for you.
The only advise I can give as we have my Honey come home after nearly 6 weeks away is that; remember it is a season in life and we are only asked to bear one day at a time.
I know it is easy to give advice, much harder to do.(My own Personal experience, I know the advice but still I often complain )
Also just enjoy the time with your children and with Your Husband as he is able.
God Bless

Thank you again, everyone! We're already settling into a routine and I've actually been very productive in the evenings (I really thought I'd be on the computer 'til the wee hours of the morning ). Eating supper at 4:30 is quite a change though!
It's nice to know others have survived night shift. Many others in our community are in the same boat, but they do not homeschool! It is different, I think. And though we've done, and will continue to do, shorter periods of night shift, multiple weeks is a duck of a different color!
Jody, we are praying in empathy for you!
