Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

this thread has been VERY entertaining.

I really needed the laugh.

Would you think less of me if you knew I sing silly homemade on the spot songs to get my kids to do what they really don't want to do? Yes I can even pretend I am in the opera.

hat I often take naps in the afternoon (and I am not pregnant and my youngest is 8!)

I miss the days when I had regular afternoon naps before children.

I'm looking forward to when the children are old enough that I can have proper siestas again. (if you use a foreign language it always sounds better)

Oh my goodness. I have thoroughly enjoyed this. I can TOTALLY relate to the McD's comments. Did ALL of those things. You know it's bad when they know it's you by your voice on the drive thru

Would you think less of me:
-if I admitted to being totally addicted to the "one minute" game on FB. I lose count of how many times I play the "just one minute" Bejeweled Blitz game....
-when I am alone in the house, I turn on the Backstreet Boys and dance like I am still in high school.
-(learned this one from MY mom) I use a spoon to sneak a quick bite of the cake leftovers on the counter. Why? Well, because it's never even, so you HAVE to keep trying to make it nice and straight.

This has been hysterical to read!

Would you think less of me if you knew . . .

* that except for big holidays, I never make breakfast?

The kids eat breakfast while I'm showering and getting ready for the day. Everyone fends for herself and big sisters help little sisters.

* that I have a box of Christmas books sitting under a chair in my dining room that has been there since LAST Christmas???

I asked dh in passing to bring it down to the basement for me once or twice. He was busy at the time and never got back to it. And I became oblivious to it. I laughingly pointed the box out to dh a week or so ago, and he was so shocked that he was ready to jump up and bring it down to storage immediately. I stopped him and said, "It's almost October. Why bother? Advent is just around the corner now anyway!"

On the not so light-hearted side, but needing to know...Would you think less of me if you knew I returned to work almost 3 months ago?

[I work mornings when my husband is still home, so we still homeschool, etc. But I feel like a terrible mom for doing this. And I really enjoy it...]

If we could arrange that - with my dh happily home a few hours a day while I worked at something I enjoyed, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Oh, good! Phew! That's a big relief. I've been carrying around the dread that everyone would think me selfish (although of course it is mostly for financial reasons.

Now, back to the funny stuff...

Would you think less of me if you knew I have no idea who Depeche Mode, the GoGos, or the Ramones are?

Oh, and one more thing: How do you keep your kids clean enough not to need baths every day? My kids need a bath after every meal!! Or outdoor playtime or indoor crazy fun time...

Well that, yes, I would think less of you.

Of course I'm kidding. Although I know those bands, if you asked me about anyone within the last 10 years I would probably look at you like this .

When I read the title of this topic my blink response was, "No!" Nothing will make me think less of Amy! Then I read the OP and it reminded me of a fave topic, I'm Maryan and you are? (when I revealed my deep dark secret of having been a pom pom girl in high school.) Then I told myself I would need to wait until Saturday before getting absorbed into this topic . So......here's my reply only to the OP. After I post here, I'll read all the replies, and I reserve the right to come back and ETA .

No, I wouldn't think less of you! Would you think less of me if you knew that...

I don't boycott anything, anyone, or anyplace (My brain gets lost in the details and I haven't been sold on any compelling arguments to date.)

I don't currently volunteer directly for parish or homeschooling activities (I support my children to do so.)

My network TV watching is limited to The Office and baseball.

I drink a daily brew of blended beet, apple, parsley, flax seed, and soon to be added, alfalfa. Yum .

I have been know to do something or watch something with my children and follow it by saying, "Don't tell the other Catholic homeschoolers about this" .

Love,

Thanks for the fun, ladies .

And no, I would not and do not think any less of you gals. Especially not Martha.       In fact, I'm rather inspired.

Would you think less of me if I said that

I'm not a fan of Brad Pitt and I have yet to see one Angelina movie, but every now and then I get curious and google them, just to see what they're up to now?

I still, about every few months or so, check "the latest" on 2 soaps I was addicted to in the early '90's, just to see if there are any familiar characters left?

I can't believe I just typed that

Hoping now no one googles *me* and finds this. Esp. not my kids.    Have to keep up the "image" you know HAHAHAHA

I always thought this was one of the most sanctifying aspects of being a mother...it's REALLY hard to be a hypocrite when you always have the preschool truth police around to call you out! Not that I haven't sometimes tried! Do you think less of me now?

You'll have to let us know how it tastes!

No, I wouldn't think less of you! Would you think less of me if you knew that...

I have been thinking about having a glass of wine ever since 10 o'clock this morning and as soon as my 22 month old fell asleep at 3 pm, I ran to the grocery store to buy a bottle of wine.

This has been fun. Here it goes!

Would you think less of me if you knew that I'm a walking pop culture trivia hound? Want to know Orlando Bloom's birth date? How about Ben Affleck's sisterinlaw's name? Charlie Sheen's real name? I'm full of incredible useless celebrity/movie/tv trivia. The only time it's not embarrassing is when I play Trivia Pursuit or Scene It! and everyone fights to be on MY team!

This is just cracking me up!

Would you think less of me if you knew that...

...I buy Snickers bars to eat by myself since my girls are all allergic to peanuts?
...I just LOVE crime dramas like Criminal Minds and CSI?
...I dislike reading aloud to my children (this one is one that causes me daily guilt even though I force myself to do it)?
...the master bathroom doesn't get cleaned for months at a time? Did I just say that?      I mean who sees it? Luckily my other bathrooms get cleaned weekly. With 3 bathrooms I just don't always get to it and it just gets shoved down my to-do list.

I'd better finish this before the boards close.

Of course not!

Would you think less of me if you knew...

...if I were on my own, I would rarely ever cook? I'd have lots of healthy snack foods on hand, but I think I would eat out all.the.time. (Of course in this fantasy I am a well-off single person! )

...I hide chocolate in my sifter because it is so rarely used.

...I have a tote full of fabric and I've not touched a sewing machine in years.

...I've had to purchase another bookshelf since joining this forum because of all the amazing book recommendations...and I can almost never see an oop suggestion without immediately checking Amazon to see if I can get a copy before they are completely unavailable!

...I'm terrible at keeping up on current events. If it isn't in the headlines when I check my yahoo mail account, I probably won't hear about it.

...I miss riding so much that if someone were to offer me a horse in exchange for one of my children, I would consider for the briefest particle of a moment.

And I enjoy crime shows/movies as well, though I rarely watch them. I always used to read mysteries, but not so much anymore. And now I lean more toward the Father Brown type mystery than the Mary Higgins Clark type.

And I dance around to my own songs too!

And just a couple weeks ago I browsed Soap Opera Digest in the checkout lane to see if any characters were left in the show I used to watch in college.

Whew! Is this thread revealing and cathartic or what?!

The more I read this thread, the less guilty I feel. It seems that at least one person shares each of my deep, dark secrets, whether it is a dirty master or dirty kids! We won't even talk about my dirty bedroom (the place where everything gets dumped when we are having company!).
