Walk with me for these parentally overplayed ones;
John Denver, Debby Boone, Glen Campbell, Neil Diamond, Loretta Lynn, The Carpenters, and Carole King.
I remember having to sit in front of the TV when I was younger, the whole neighborhood did actually, to watch American Bandstand with Dick Clark. Those were the days! Ahem, and some of YOU weren't even born yet! In the sixties? Ya know? Gotcha!
I actually like all kinds of music, except the rap crap, wink.

Music Nostalgia brings it all back, doesn't it? LOL

Ah...a true music aficionado . Speaking of Elton John, my fave album was "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player."
The first concert dh and I attended was "Chicago."
And did you get as excited as I did that summer?that ...?NBC had the summer series of "The Jackson Five?" I think they were only on one evening for six weeks, but I made sure I saw every show!
Also, remember "The Glen Campbell Show"?
How many watched their fave country stars on "HeeHaw?"
How could anyone watch American Bandstand without dancing?
And to end with, Renee, your terminology for "rap" is the exact same as mine! My boys are always astonished to hear mom say the "C" word!

Did you read my list, Renee? --definitely 70's heavy with only a slight early 80's hint.

Like a Rhinestone Cowboy - my favorite song of 1975!

Tina;
Where oh where did you find a Mozart workout CD? I'd never heard of this, sounds interesting. And just so you know my silly humor for sure, I never meant anything snobby towards Mozart in particular. We love Mozart here, read all the Mozart effect everything and live on him in the morning. Great way to begin a day actually. Rather, I could not see using lullaby type music to perform sweaty cardio. Maybe stretching. When I'm huffing and puffing, I always generally feel the need for speed ''
Paula;
It's more a group music thing for me, lots of people around all singing that song together. Everyone in my high school sat round for what seems an entire semester singing it, so for me it's all about the memories it evokes. ''
And Partridge family? Oh yeah, had to have my very own tamborine and leather vest with tassels from Tijuana back then. snicker
Mary M;
I had to go and reread your list, was thinking 80s still when I read it because my kids were older then. Sorry, you're a 70s person then, oops.'' And for the record, nothing wrong with 80s music either. Hands down fans of Journey here, hand waving. I guess I felt a little old reading some of those "remember" musics at first, and have been smiling and laughing a whole bunch here since adding in my two bits. Made my day! ''
Stacy;
Yes, Jackson Five shows, and Glen Campbell. Heehaw, not so much. Ed Sullivan, oh yah! Went to see "Chicago" in concert too. The song "Color my world" was popular when we married 1977.
'' Oh, and, I hope I didn't offend anyone by adding in my little poetry on the rap stuff. That's my nickname for it around here as one son has a bit of a fondness for a bit of it. I surprised him by making up my own little ditty for him using this title...hehehe I thought I gave him quite a sweet little performance really. ''
And besides, y'all just have to know I'm a fun loving type of woman ''

I've gotta bump this because our latest, greatest CD is All Over the World - the very best of ELO. My boys *choose* to play it...especially when we're picking up the house.
Mary M...Aiden is considering using Mr. Blue Sky for his (batting) walk-up song . Can't you just picture it? All those rough and tough songs...then #44 walks up to Mr. Blue Sky! I think the pitcher would be scared, don't you?
What are you all listening to these days?
Love,

I never answered you on this! Shame on me! I was referring to Mozart for your Morning Workout.
Angie, somehow I can imagine Mr. Blue Sky intimidating a pitcher if he thinks that's where the ball will disappear when it's been hit. We LOVE ELO here.

I'm listening to two cd's right now on my daily drives to get ds. One is a current favorite Michael Buble's (actually been listening to him for roughly five years) lastest cd "Crazy Love". For my oldie's, I've been listening to Earth Wind and Fire Greatest Hits. I'm disappointed in the cd, though, as I can't even imagine how many times I listened to their album and definitely hear differences in the arrangements. It says the album was "remastered." Not well at all, in my opinion. I still enjoy it, but it's just not as good!

If we're heading into the more modern, I like Norah Jones. Haven't bought anything by her yet, but this CD looks promising. I'm just a little concerned about her style getting a bit monotonous. But I guess with the way you can mix it up on computers, it would work.
I like Michael Buble's sound. Thanks for introducing him to me, Stacy!

You're welcome! I have to admit, what drew me to him was that he is reminiscent of the "older" singers I enjoy; and now I'm going waaayyyy back...to Sinatra, Martin, Como, and "newer" Bobby Darin , and the like. Also a favorite of mine, but a bit before I was born is Glenn Miller. My mum LOVED him, so I grew up listening to him, and the other aforementioned "oldies" who were favorites of my parents. And now my boys like GM, too!

TINA! I hadn't thought of it that way - LOVE IT! Most walk-up songs are, well...tough, intimidating, maaaaanly. If nothing else, the cheerfulnes of the tune would baffle .

Electric Light Orchestra ! Suzette, now you do need to explain how you have managed to miss this band - their music is everywhere in American culture (though the band is Brit); just ask my boys. So many of their songs are in commercials, movies, etc. ...My dh would LOVE to miss them .
Love,
