I am praying, Jane, "Surely the son of those tears will not be lost." SO glad the news is so good for your dh right now, but in addition I pray he will get some good answers or obvious resolving of the symptoms-- I'm sure the uncertainty is hard on you all.

Oh dear, Jane, I just saw this and said a Memorare immediately. I will keep you, your dh and son, and all your family in prayer - we'll add it to our family rosary intentions.
Praying,
Angela

Jane,
I am so sorry for your pain. I am praying for your husband's health and especially for your son in this dark time for him. It is so hard because we cannot see what lies ahead and what God is asking from us.
You have been such a help and comfort to me. You are a beautiful person and mother and I have great confidence that it will all work for the greater glory of God, despite the pain that you are all going through.
God bless your family.

Jane, I just saw this thread and am praying for your husband, son, and whole family. May God heal your son and dh, and continue to draw your family closer to each other and to Him.

Dear Everyone,
Thank-you, thank-you for your prayers and great kindness.
My husband is home, and amazingly seems absolutely fine. All the tests were negative for heart damage, and he does not even have to be on medication. He returns for an outpatient appointment in a month's time.
My son still has not come home. I do not believe he will return any time soon. Watching him is like watching the battle between good and evil, quite literally. He has always been perfectly willing to go to Mass and the sacraments and to join in family prayers, etc. but picked up some very worldly values at school from ages 4 to 9 and especially from ages 16 to 18. He loves our holy faith and feels a great attraction to it, but is also very strongly drawn to what I presume seem like the freedoms of the secular world.
My husband and I believe that he will either miss us so much and all that is good that he will realise how stupid he has been and come back, with a better attitude ... or, he will slowly drift further and further away as other influences tempt him. We can only pray. It is terribly heart-breaking, but I have five consolations: a sweet 23 year old with Down's Syndrome whom I know will never hurt me as long as he lives, a lovely 16 year old daughter who is everything a Catholic mother could want in a daughter and three darling little ones. (I couldn't stop myself from crying in front of him yesterday, and my little four year old son kept telling me how much he loved me and drying my tears with his teddy.) Still, like the Good Shepherd we remain preoccupied with the one who is lost.
Thank-you so much for all your prayers. This has SO confirmed me in my commitment to homeschooling: whatever they learn or do not learn, they stay close and attached, and you can then be the mother and father you were meant to be.
Jane.

What great news about your husband's test results! Thanks be to God for that.
But I cannot imagine how difficult having your son leave like this must be. I'll pray for him--and for consolation for you too.
May St. Augustine intercede for your son and St. Monica intercede for you.

Jane,
I thought of you and Molly today...and your sons.
We had our annual pro-life march and three men showed up to walk the walk and carry the cross.
All three of these men I've known since I was a teenager. All three led less than stellar lives and all three of them have caused their mothers many years of anguish and heartache. One mother I even worked with. I heard firsthand stories of her tales of woe.
Today all three led the rosary in loud, joyous voices. Their t-shirts all had Pope JPII on the back and they had the largest rosaries of any of us. Their faith shone in their adversity.
I cannot say that their lives are "ideal" or even that a young person would be impressed with them. Their life choices have damaged their health, their financial state, and their past relationships. None of them have big fine houses. They all drive second-hand vehicles.
And none of them have a wife who stood by them.
Not a perfect picture, but they seem to have realized that they are not perfect (nor are we)...and they have made peace with that. They have come to realize that they did not make the right decisions. They also realize that God loves them regardless and has welcomed them home. They remind me of the people that Mrs. Turpin saw going up to heaven in "Revelation" by Flannery O'Connor.
I know that all three of them have found a very deep, loving relationship with Christ their Savior, their Heavenly Mother, and their own earthly mother.
Their mothers never stopped praying for them, and hoping for a conversion. I know that for a fact because I've seen their mothers in church and talked to them outside of Mass. One of the men even brings his elderly mother to Mass every Sunday with him.
I know you and Molly won't stop praying either, and I'll continue to pray that the boys make the 'right' decisions in life and live their lives fully in Christ. The tide will turn.

I really believe that this is true.
I said to my dh last night that if I, who did not have praying parents, can convert with the grace of God, imagine how much our sons, with praying parents, have going for them.
Saying prayers for all our dc and esp for your ds, Molly and Jane.

My son is home. Thank-you so much for all your prayers.
He loves us and he hates us. He loves us so much that ultimately he couldn't bear to be away from us, which is the main reason he is home. He hates some of the "restrictions" of living with seven other people in a Catholic homeschooling family.
He needs a job, and he needs to discern what college course to follow in September. (He now definitely wants to continue with his education.) He never stopped practicing the faith, but he needs support in this.
So there you go, plenty of prayer intentions for any of you prayer warriors not already exhausted by our petitions!
But I am so grateful to this forum and its prayers, which are powerful.
Jane.

Thank-you so much, Jennifer.
Elizabeth - my husband is fine, so much so that he has been somewhat dropped from this thread which was originally his! While he had two episodes of considerable chest pain, all the tests were negative for heart damage. He has an outpatient's appointment coming up, but it is looking good for him, thanks to your prayers.
Jane.
