Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

All of my kids love Andrew Clements.

The School Story
Frindle
Lunch Money

We listened to Lunch Money on a long drive as a family and even dh and I were engaged. Funny. He has a real knaack for teaching kids without them knowing it. The School Story teaches about publishing, Frindle is about how words get into the dictionary, and Lunch Money is all about running a business. That makes it sound very boring, but honestly, its got the magic that Arthur and Magic Schoolbus have of kids in those middle to late elem. ages. Hysterical.

Oh dear! Sorry!

The good news is that many of them are available online for free...here they are sorted by title and by author and here is their home page. You can at least preview before you buy. I can say that their quality is wonderful, print size is good, font is easy to read. If you do purchase some of the books, know that at least they're worthwhile purchases.

I'm always trying to spread the Ralph Moody love. Dad read Little Britches and its sequels, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them.

I wrote a reply to this thread yesterday recommending the Swallows and Amazons series as well--wonder where it went . . .

Anyway, great adventure stories about two families (kids only) and their sailing/camping adventures.

And if your voice needs a break, type in the titles to librivox and see if they have them for downloading.   There is a number of yesterday's classic titles there, and of course its free!

We are just about to finish Swallows and Amazons (book 1) - we love it!! Great book for boys and girls. Also great for multiple ages.

I'm also a big fan of Yesterdays Classics - the Dillingham books are wonderful - we've read four so far.

So many books so little time.... .
