Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just thought of another we like to watch...Looney Tunes! I've seen everyone of those cartoons several times but I still like to watch them.

On a side note, a friend of mine said, "It's pretty sad when your only exposure to classical music was through Bugs Bunny cartoons!" I think of those cartoons everytime I hear certain classical pieces!

Light and fluffy like popcorn for the brain!

I LOVE NORTH AND SOUTH!!! (not the Civil War miniseries)

Don't forget Wives and Daughters, too. There is some sadness, but happy endings!

Reese Witherspoon cracks me up! If you are looking for short, television shows instead of movies, we love Psych (some minor language problems, but no smut except for one mild make-out scene in the Pilot). Also, shows like Mythbusters and Good Eats.

Steve Martin's Father of the Brides (1 & 2)
What About Bob with Bill Murray
Penelope with Christina Ricci and the guy who played Mr. Tumnus
Auntie Mame
Groundhog Day
Singing in the Rain
Who Am I This Time? (very sweet movie from 1982 with a very young Susan Sarandon and Christopher Walken)
1776- musical
Arranged
All Creatures Great and Small (the earlier seasons before they got a new wife for James)
Danny Kaye movies

A really upbeat, happy-making movie that you don't have to pay a lot of attention to: Mama Mia.

Peace,
Nancy

Angie, when I lost our twins 12 years ago we sat around and watched Meet Me in St Louis and Life with Father. Others I could think of might be It's a Wonderful Life, Boys' Town, and Going My Way.   Those old movies seem to deal with real suffering in a sort of cathartic, family-friendly way.

My daughter suggests The Great Escape. ... might appeal to boys.

I also like these:
Janette Oke - Love Comes Softly Series

The acting is a bit painful in places, but they are SUCH GOOD stories that lift my spirits when things seem hopeless and overwhelming.
