Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'll make January's a "Loveliness of Family Home Evenings". But... I don't want to call it "Family Home Evenings" because that sounds a bit too Mormon, don't you think? What should I call it, instead?

Evenings at Home Together?

oop, sorry. i have lived in a prodminately Mormon are for 20 years, so the terminology didn;t phase me (i always loved the tradition that our Mormon friends have of doing FHE, so i didn;t realize it could be seen negatively. sorry again. let me know which wording you prefer and i will change it.)

No worries, Laura. I have a couple of very dear Mormon friends who put together quite lovely family home evenings. I don't see the tradition negatively at all- I just thought the wording might confuse some readers who stumble onto the Carnival. Maybe not. Either way- no big deal.

Let's go with "The Loveliness of Evenings at Home"

I'm thinking puzzles, games, family crafts, read alouds, hot cocoa-- the warm and cozy stuff that happens on a stormy winter evening (since it'll be January)...?

I've been watching and reading with interest...I'm sure I'll join in several of these!

I just wanted to say what a gracious and hospitable hostess Laura has been!!! Thank you Laura for taking the lead on this! Sometimes all a great idea needs is a leader. Thank you for being enthusiastic enough and willing to step up to it for everyone!

I love some of the ideas here!!!!!!!

I just wanted to throw out another idea...the loveliness of being frugal. So many do so much with small spaces, or challenged incomes. I know there are some VERY creative people among this group of ladies who just do amazing things with a frugal spirit. I'd love to have a peek into your homes and see how you adopt a spirit of creativity and frugality - "use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without."

"Holiness and Humor" sounds good!! Or maybe "Humor and Holiness"??? Just so we don't have two 'ness-es in a row? It still sounds a bit funny, but after all funny is what we're going for here.

Unless there are other suggestions for the title put me down for that one, Laura, please. And thank you again for leading this! So exciting!

Yes, thank you so much Laura!    Loveliness of being frugal is so VERY appropriate these days, more than ever, that can overflow into our vege garden beds and all sorts of things...

I'd be willing to take the loveliness of frugality if no one else would like to have it. :)

Can I do one? I was just about getting around to starting this up again when I came on this thread. I MISS blog carnivals so much.

I wouldn't do a good job at the imagination one. Would there be any room for me to through in a carnival on making lovely spaces? I know its probably been done in the past but I think moms have fun showing some little nook or even an entire room they cleared, decorated, and are proud of showing. I like looking at real homeschooling Mom's homes more than a magazine that is not real. What do you think?

Are we just doing one a month? Is 2 a month too much? Its not for me but maybe I'm too over eager!! I am so glad we are back at this.

When is the deadline of the first one in September??

I don't mind switching to imagination or doing it if someone else wants nature in your backyard. I like the lovely spaces idea, too, Sarah!

Maybe there could be two some months. Like a second one in November since holiday cookies sounds fun but not as involved as a broader topic, so, maybe another topic could be snuck in. Or maybe a second topic stuck in February when everyone is a bit bored and could use a little more inspiration for loveliness than other times of the year? Just brainstorming:)
