Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Michaela, that is the BEST idea! I even think it is worthy of two maybe? Because from ladies plans it allows other ladies to be inspired and then a showcasing of what has been done at the end is a perfect way to finish the Jubilee Year..

well, okay then!!! this sounds good!

how about.....everyone who wants to host, could send me a PM with what they would like their fair's theme to be, and the month they would prefer to host it?

i am thinking to include your 1st and 2nd choices, in case there are doubles?

i could compile that and post a list - that can be updated if there are any blank spots?

does that sound good? (i am open to suggestions if there is a better way to do it!!!)

was there an overarching theme (the year of the priests) or just whatever you wanted? I got lost.

Jodie, did you mean with hosting two Year of the Priest carnivals? I've been thinking about that..I had initially suggested two..but maybe that hosting two could diminish the effect of both individually? Maybe one is enough, but not to host it at the end of the Year of the Priest. If it were to be hosted in one of the initial carnivals, giving ladies time to take up on some of the presentations..

oh, my! i am glad there is such a great response!

please, really, just go ahead a choose a topic - whatever one you would like to do, or sounds fun to you, or moves you, or whatever.

i think it should be whatever you want - not the "over-arching" theme - but i do think having a Year of teh Priest for one of them is an excellent idea.

i don't want to have to think up and assign topics! really - i can barely think up my own . and like i said, i have never hosted or organized, so i am totally winging it!

how about host one (for year of the priest) and then repost it at the end of the year with any more posts that want to "catch up"? sorta like a "we're beginning the year with this" and "we're ending the year on this note" -- that way only one person has to host it but others can do stuff throughout the year and "can be late" -- only thing is we'll only really have 11 themes, not that that's a bad thing.

does that make sense? running out of working brain cells... and i'm being called up for the family prayer...

ok cool.. everything doesn't have to be one theme.. it's just "a year of carnivals"

We want someone to do a "Year of the priest" early on so that ideas can be shared in time for others to still use them. *any volunteers????*

But otherwise it's whatever you'd like.

When does the first one need to start? Sept? or wait until Oct?

So..

I want Easter Celebrations in February (I'll pm you as well Laura)

If someone doesn't have a special theme.. what about a month you'd rather use?

After there's someone for every month and those that want a particular theme have picked them.. then we can post the whole year and get suggestions for those that don't have themes yet.

so far, accordign to the thread, we have the following people willing to host:

(i will fix the month order once more people pick a month )

laura (cactusmouse)- something with cookies? (i'd like Nov in order to have all the recipes for Christmas cookies the following month, but really, i will makeit work whenever...)

Anne (aussieannie) - May / Marian theme

Jodie (JodieLyn)- Feb / Easter

Stef (stefoodie)

Paula (Paula in MN)

Sarah (Sarah M) - Jan /

KC (KC in TX)

Gae (cherishedheart) - March /

Michaela (Michaela) - requested end of the year jubilee for The Year of the Priest (June?)

Martha? did you want a month?

that is almost a year's worth right there. wow. this is really making me smile, ladies.

Now - the big question - who wants to brave september and go first?

(more ideas to take or leave - first day of school traditions? something else homeschool/curriculum related? family games? how are you inspired?)

i am just tossing out ideas. feel free to ignore or to run with any of them, and see where they lead you!

How do you know to contribute? Will there be a post here on the boards asking for submissions?

I really like Anne's idea about the nature in your own back yard and the one of favorite children's books!
