Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Yes, and the fact that it was a collection of many ladies ideas and thoughts on one subject, altogether was good.

And it was a particular carnival that made me think, "I'm going to blog!"

(I'm even further behind then you Laura on doing them.. I've participated ONCE)

But ideas.. I noticed there's a whole bunch of threads in Domestic Church on planning celebrations and such. Might already have a lot of interest and could include stuff from previous years.

There seems to be some info in the archives on "how" --

Here is one: Loveliness Fairs? How?

Pick topics and dates to complete a post -- bloggers sign up to host the topic of their choice -- hostess gives a deadline to enter submissions -- the hostess assembles the submissions into a post.

HTH,

I think the Charlotte Mason bog carnival is still going on. I see links to it every now and again.

if you want to start a new one, please go right ahead, Laura! if we can do a monthly, i'll volunteer for one. there are 9 people right now on this thread -- if each of us takes one theme we'll only need three more volunteers, at least for the next year.

do you have any ideas for themes?

not really - i just posted on a whim last night as i was thinking about this - but now i am getting excited at the idea!

Jodie mentioned planning celebrations (i think with the liturgical year...)

of course, some other ideas would be more specific to the month...

a spin off of the "christmas traditions" thread?

food based? autumn soups? tea / tea time/ teapots? Baking? (oooh cookies!!! i like the cookie idea :) it's still too hot here to turn on my oven, tho, but by Christmas that could be fun!)

nature based theme?

crafts? handicrafts? seasonal or otherwise?

seasons?

candles?

your child's favorite book?

how you celebrate birthdays?

You know it's early but I'd really love one on Easter celebrations.. it's one thing to fill up 12 days of Christmas with celebrations but Easter.. 60 days..

If you want to do one a month, I could probably manage to hostess something this winter (especially after seeing how a few more are done).. maybe on Easter but it would need to be done early.. maybe February? that would give people another month to be able to plan before Easter.

I would love to see a Marian Carnival..maybe around the time of the Immaculate Conception?

Also for nature, it would be lovely to see one focused on our own backyards..

I'd love to see a carnival that showcases the celebration of a saint, any saint in the home!

An interesting topic could be The Year of the Priest.

If it's early, then share how you plan to celebrate.

If it's at the end of the year, everyone could share pictures of what they did....crafts, inviting a priest to their home, lessons completed, ect.
