Emily, my heart breaks for you and with you. I've had times when I am suffering deeply and, like Lisa, all I can say is, "Jesus, have mercy on me!" I cry out in my heart to Him constantly and tell Him that I don't have the strength to keep fighting anymore, but that I know the fight has to continue. That He needs to fight for me because I am in too much pain and am too tired to go on. I feel so alone. My heart is with you, Emily, and I wish that I could do more for you. I am praying for you!

Emily, just knowing it is OK to feel that way has helped me. Prayer will be, perhaps, forever altered, some of lifes pains change us in ways we can not anticipate. But that is not only OK, it is good. I recognize your words, I am not certain I can say I have felt exactly as you, but I do know the loss of a son and I do know that spiritual life takes on a different form after death of a child.
Ride the wave, whatever the size, Our Lady is Star of this Sea, she is holding the boat you are in, she will be your safe refuge when all else is dark. Some days, she is the only one I can pray to, and that has sustained me in ways I have no words to explain.

Somewhere I read that even the intent to pray is prayer.
Maybe you are not formally praying. But you are thinking of God.
And be assured, God is holding Matthew Karol in one arm and you in the other.
Rest in Him.

Praying for you and with you dear Em. All of the ladies have given such good advice. Take it slow and maybe read from a favorite prayer book and offer that to God. He knows how you are feeling and He is with you, even though you feel so alone.

Emily,
I had not seen until today what a terribly sad time and pain you have gone through. I can only imagine your pain. I'm SO, so sorry for the loss of your precious Matthew Karol. He is such a beautiful precious boy.
Please know that you are not walking alone, and when you become weary in prayer, and walking with the Lord, it's then that He will carry you, and allow others to help carry you as well.
YOU are being carried right now, Emily, and we are only too happy to be able to pray for you, and lift you up to our precious Lord right now. May you find peace and comfort, and God's mercy right now. May you find a small blessing in each day, until the blessings again become abundant, and you're able to walk again on your own......
