I am feeling very anxious - we found out that thieves came into our carport yesterday - the worst is that they took one of my twin's bikes - that he just got for his birthday (he had not had a new one in years). I feel so scared - we keep so much in our carport - strollers, lots of bikes and trikes, lawn equipment. We live in what is considered a very safe neighborhood - I hardly ever lock my doors when I am in, my kids play out alone etc. The burglary would have happened when I was home alone with the baby - probably with the side door unlocked.
Thank you so much.

Oh, how sad....and scary! Praying that you will all be wrapped in peace, be kept safe from harm, and that your son will be able to aquire another bike.

Oooohhhh Marilyn, I'm praying. I've been there before.
Most likely, from what you describe, this is the 'work' of kids/youth - so I wouldn't worry that your neighborhood is suddenly unsafe.
Praying for peace for ~all~ of you, and for a replacement bike for your ds.

Merciful Heavens, M!!!
I'm nervous for you!!!
I'll be begging St. Michael to protect you and the family! Your husband has been in my St. Joseph prayers for awhile, but I'm certain this latest one has him worried for his family. I will pray that St. Joseph will guide him and help him in providing as he already does so generously for his family!
Oh dear, Marilyn...many prayers for peace coming your way as you rethink how to assist your husband in providing a safe and secure home for your family...and of course prayers for your generous little guy. God bless him, he's being so forgiving about all of this!

You know, Tami, this makes sense to me, too! I was thinking...hmmm...the bike is gone...sounds like kids!
Anyway, prayers...my emotional response is to tell you that there are 3 acres for sale next to us... !

Praying, Marilyn! I understand what it's like to have crime in what should be a nice, safe town.

I am praying for your peace and, of course, safety.
Even if it wasn't a kid that stole the bike (a very good chance it was), I think there are people out there who only grab bikes and go. The same thing happened to my friend when she was home with the garage door opened - just bikes stolen. I definitely understand the unsettled feeling though.

Praying Marilyn ... I remember when we lived in Denver; we had only been in the house a couple of weeks and my then-15yod left her bike unlocked on the front porch. When I came back from dropping them off somewhere, the bike was gone ... in just over an hour! It does give you a creepy feeling ...
Sending hugs, too ....

Marilyn, do you have some Miraculous Medals you could get blessed then dig one in each corner of your yard? As well, sprinkle holy salt on your driveway, carport and yard (front and back).
I'd be keeping my porch lights on at night from now on.
And if you don't mind me sharing one more thing...one Christmas Eve our Nativity Set got vandelized (we were inside, at home the entire night!) As maddening and scary as it was, the next day, I printed on the side of a cardboard box in marker what happened, cut it out and nailed it to our tree in our front yard.
It felt good to let our neighbours/passerbys know about the damage someone did, instead of keeping quiet about it.

Oh dear, Marilyn! I can relate -- I felt horrible after our car number plate was stolen from our front drive, not long after we moved to London. Praying for your intentions.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. I am feeling a bit less on edge.
The officer who took the police report told me that there is big chance this is random - a teen, or construction worker or person soliciting.
The funny thing is that we have been here for nearly 10 years with no problem - even when we go on vacation we have left everything clearly visible in our carport and have never had anything taken.
It has made me much more aware of making sure I lock doors etc. I just don't like feeling paranoid.
