Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We never REALLY leave off, but technically, we'll start up August 31st ... this is the first year I'll only have to worry about coordinating home with dh (all my older kids have flown the coop, as it were !) so I have built our formal schooling calendar around dh's.

That puts us starting on Aug 31 and finishing mid-June ... but gives us a lot of lee-way as we don't have "finals" and "parent-teacher conferences" to worry about !

I'm looking forward to being in our new home and exploring this area ... lots of nature stuff with the kiddoes and outside time ... Thomas will be doing Seton so I'll just have Maggie (9) and JP (almost 7) hanging out with me doing the "fun schooling" ...

I'm not looking forward to having Thomas in Seton just because it seems so formal. But we want to get him ready for high school and thought 5th-8th with Seton would be a good prep. We'll see if I can handle it (I KNOW Thomas can! )

Have to still buy some books from Amazon ... but then I NEVER stop buying from them so it's not critical. Maggie has really taken off since we did All About Spelling this summer and I think her reading won't be such an issue this year. I want to encourage her to read more independently ... altho I do love those cuddle-reading times!

For JP, I may end up doing Seton with him half-way thru this year as he needs/wants to take off more on his own ... give him the facts and he'll learn 'em ovnite. But I'm still mulling that one!
