Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Happy birthday Elizabeth! I have been enjoying this board and its discussions so much! However, I read it all the time without logging in first. So it is in effect a blog -- anyone can read it. I found this forum through a Google search for Catholic unschooling.

I have loved! the discussions on unschooling and classical education. I have learned so much from the in-depth discussions you have on these topics, and the wealth of experience from all your years of homeschooling.

How did Michael's day go? And how was your day??

My day was quiet, which is what I begged of my dh. There were a couple of lovely surprises though. A landscape artist came out to chat. It seems we're going to create that yard of my dreams this spring. I can't tell you how much more I loved this than the surprise party I know they were trying to plan...She was wonderful (my kids were reminded of you, MacBeth) and I've always wanted to talk to someone who knew what she was doing about how to planand execute in my yard! And just after she left, Cindy Mac appeared with a favorite from the Daily Grind. It's a rare treat for me to sit in my living room and chat in the middle of the day. Simple pleasures...

I also spent the day looking forward to the delivery of new appliances the next day. So, Jenn's homemaking thread resonated with me. I'm feeling really domestic.

Michael's biology class was "pretty good." He seemed enthusiastic about the teacher, said the class wasn't nearly as liberal as he thought it would be and is looking forward to the lab, now that he knows he only has to dissect a frog and not a fetal pig.

Today, he had a photography class and he was utterly thrilled. He thought the teacher was great; he's totally enthused about the assignment list; he can't wait to start taking pictures.    . I can tell it's going to be a good fit.

All in all, a pretty good week.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. You really did make my day a happy one.

Elizabeth,

I hope your birthday was blessed and special!

I think 1964 was pretty great but 1966 is good too, my little brother (who will be 40 in April) was born that year!

The forties have been my favorite decade so far! Though there is a bittersweetness about it in many ways, there are also some wonderful blessings that I just couldn't have imagined would be so sweet and wonderful!

And most days, I can think straight again, now that the baby days of the perpetual state of dizziness are gone!

Fetal pigs are no big deal! We did that a few years ago on my kitchen table!
