I know she rubbed off on him ;o)

Donna, I grew up "a good stretch of the legs" away from St. Ann's and my parents still live in West Side...they are participating in the famous St. Ann's Novena right now, July 17 - July 26!!! I will ask them to bring this intention to the Novena and to write it in the book of intentions. I'm teary eyed here <-- happy tears. Praying!
Love,

WOW, Donna Marie!!! This is INCREDIBLE!!
I was also born in Scranton. And attended the Novena almost every year as a child. My Aunts and Cousins are attending the novena also this week. I will tell them of this incredible story also.
Will continue to pray for your Grandfather.

How AWESOME!!!
What an amazing story, this is such a story of Hope and inspiration. I came late to your post Donna Marie and was saying to myself Wow this old guy sounds just like members of my family, gruff, yet soft centred, hard working, a little ruff around the edges with a lot of love & passion. What a guy your Grandmother was a blessed woman to have such a man, a real man's man. She sounds like a Mother with a priest's heart.
This is just a beautiful story similar to Fr Corapi's as his father was a Catholic just not practicing and was able to hear his own father's confession after 20 years or more.
I will be praying for your GRAND-father, asking St Anne & St Joseph to stay close to him and guide him to your Grandmother with the light of Christ and the Saints.
AWESOME!! AWESOME!!

From our Mom:
"I just wrote the intention up and will take it with us to the Novena in the morning and place it at the feet of St. Ann. God be with Ed and his family.
Love,
Mom"
Our prayers continue....
Love,

THANK YOU all sooooo much for all of your prayers and well-wishes!!
My grandfather is still hanging in there and is currently being cared for by hospice. From what I have been told, he has been very peaceful which is a great relief to all of us. We have had all the grandkids and great-grandkids praying hard for him. My mom and dad were so tickled to learn that you were praying for him too!...and {{{{Angie}}}} and {{{{Jennifer}}} thank you so much for bring him in prayer to the St. Anne's!! I can't tell you how much this means to all of us! (Give your mom a big smooch from me when you see her again!!)
My aunt told me that she, my uncle(the priest) and my other aunt met at the elevator in the hospital at the exact time of the death of my grandmother (13 years before) She says she wasn't making a big thing of it but it occurred to her that this would be a good time for my uncle to get there...and after that we know what happened ...
It's so nice to know there are others from Scranton here! He has lived there in the hill section for YEARS. My aunt went to Marywood too, Mary!(but she has to be about 55 now)
Thank you again everyone! I am still a bit shaken up at the dramatic faith-filled events of this past week. My mom and I were saying just the other day that the whole conversion-story thing had us shaken up so much more than a phone call of his death would have...we have that pins and needles feeling still!
Golly, I love you guys!
