I'm finding these questions surprisingly hard to answer. I guess I have two sets of answers - one if I consider "others" to be people in 3rd world countries for example, and another if I think of "others" as my extended family or neighbors. I've also learned to *never* say never!
So take these answers with a grain of salt...
1. What is one thing you spend money on that many consider a luxury but you don't?
either vitamins/supplements or therapies for my kids (like vision therapy, orthodontia, dyslexia tx, etc)
2. What is one thing you splurge on even though you consider it a luxury?
occasional eating out (or bringing in ), curriculum hopping
3. What is one luxury you would never pay for even if money were no object?
a yacht?
4. What is the first luxury you would acquire if money were no object (or the first one you can think of anyway!).
a house that has four big bedrooms and a cool sunroom in a safe neighborhood close to dh's work! (LOL, we've been looking for this for years but can't afford yet!)

I'll warn you before I start, "one thing" has become "more than one thing"... SORRY, but I couldn't choose just one...

Travel (ds would say to LegoLand, I'd say to Vatican City)
Dd would say HORSES!
I liked the monthly house deep cleaning and weekly laundry.

1. What is one thing you spend money on that many consider a luxury but you don't?
once a week
Yarn & fabric. I make most of the gifts I give to people and I need the "stuff" to make them!
2. What is one thing you splurge on even though you consider it a luxury?
Eating out usually once a week (sometimes twice)
3. What is one luxury you would never pay for even if money were no object?
Daycare
4. What is the first luxury you would acquire if money were no object (or the first one you can think of anyway!).
A house big enough for lots of children; a sewing/craft room and a learning room. With lots of natural sunlight in the country

Ok after banging my head no less than two times trying to get babies in and out of our minivan today I have to amend my answer to #4...the first thing I would splurge on would be the 15 passenger Dodge Sprinter with a high roof!

1. What is one thing you spend money on that many consider a luxury but you don't?
Quite honestly, I think that most Americans would look at me and think - crazy. That woman only buys the bare necessities - so I guess I'll have to go with "babies", like Jodie. My husband is the spender and he will pay more for the "right" tools / equipment for the job whereas others would "make do" with what they have or something less expensive.
2. What is one thing you splurge on even though you consider it a luxury?
going out to eat on date nights
3. What is one luxury you would never pay for even if money were no object?
cable / satellite tv. definitely
4. What is the first luxury you would acquire if money were no object (or the first one you can think of anyway!).
paying someone to finish all our home improvement projects, especially the "when are we ever going to have the time & money to get to those?" dreams: re-finish wood floors & trim, new paint inside and out, landscaping, fix up the root cellar, finish the wrap-around porch, a new kitchen, finish the basement and attic...and a finished garage for my dh. A greenhouse, summer kitchen, and smokehouse would be nice, too.

1- I agree with the "right tools" on dh's part. As a builder by trade and woodworker by hobby, he hardly every settles for less than great tools. For me? Baby carriers... I have a few of them for different ages/weights/stages of babies, good ones... apparently I need the "right tools" for my job too!
2- We splurge on the brand of cheese we buy-- no matter the price it has to be Tillamook. Also splurged on a really, great digital SLR camera which feeds the photographer in both dh and me, and occasionally makes us some money too!
3- Cable TV easily. Fancy cell phones or blackberries too. We have a simple pay-as-needed Trac phone for traveling or whatnot.
4-If money were no object, the first thing I'd get would be a maid.

I would have to go with babies, too! But healthy food and supplements would be a close second.

Really, I rarely splurge. But I would say that our expensive home could probably be considered a luxury that. The space and privacy is worth all the other sacrifices, though.
On a smaller scale, candy and cigars.

A nanny or trips away from the kids.

I would finish my garage into a schoolroom. Then I would hire a maid to help me keep the rest of the house clean.

My monthly(when I can find someone to watch the kids during an available spot)massage.
It just makes my body, right.
2. What is one thing you splurge on even though you consider it a luxury?
Our pool.
3. What is one luxury you would never pay for even if money were no object?
Cable TV, cell phone, satellite radio. Sorry, I MUST have DSL internet.
4. What is the first luxury you would acquire if money were no object (or the first one you can think of anyway!).
A new house-in the country on a few acres, privacy-lots of trees, automatic generator for power outages, paved driveway, water filtration system(reverse osmosis), 4 car garage--mostly for bikes and toys, new larger kitchen with lot's of space, school room, exercise room, mud room with shower, oh, oh, and a soaker tub in my master bath...ahhhhhh!!!

1. Books. Before we had our first son I'd choose to buy books over food. :)
2. Netflix. DH and I are movie geeks so $20 a month for practically endless entertainment is a great deal for us. Give us a glass of wine and a good movie and it can be date night every night.
3. A giant showy house- It's just more rooms to have to clean. I'd like a house that is just what we need, no more.
4. This is a tie between a housekeeper and travel. We would love to be able to travel all over the world, but I'd also love to never scrub a toilet again!

Ooooh, great thread!
1. Good books -- hardcovers, with dust jackets AND Brodart film covering :)
You said "one", but I'll sneak in a second, because I know some people do think it's luxury -- good food.
2. Good food. :D
3. Cable TV. Anything electronic and "state of the art"
4. A 13' x 24' fully-equipped kitchen, to my specifications... every last detail.

Wow, this is surprisingly hard...lol...
Well,I can tell you what would NOT be my answer to number one, that a number of you listed--shoes. I am barefoot 99% of the time. LOL
1.Fabric. But not often at all.
2.DH's ham radio 'stuff'. And high quality kitchen/laundry appliances. We both need our tools for our work, you see...
3.video game systems. Ever. Wii, etc. All of them. Four wheelers/ATVs.
4.OOOo. Tough one! A 15 passenger van. A second *summer* kitchen, with a humongous basement. Two 50s model 'mom's fun cars' with all of the modern amenities...(a hard top for winter, and a convertible for summer, lol). A vacation by myself. A Select Comfort mattress for our bed. Full size bunk beds. COmplete kitchen overhaul--incl reflooring the kitchen/dining room/mudroom/bathroom. Bumping the front porch out all the way down the front of the house. Reroofing the house with a standing seam metal roof....
LOL
