Thank you so much for your prayers everyone, I know they are helping. Dh also let me "off" for much of this weekend, a much needed break. I got to do things like food shop without kids! I think the prayer and rest went along way towards helping the panic attacks. I still feel it, but not as desperate, YKWIM? I don't feel quite as much like I'm losing my mind.
Oh and KC, if it wasn't for all the food allergies in our family, I probably would have weaned earlier. We are discussing stopping soon (we meaning dh and I, not me and the baby ) - I knew it would be a struggle to wean him, especially at night, so I need dh's support. So maybe it's not all food allergies - it's me being to tired to put forth the herculean effort to parent a toddler w/o nursing.

as I near the due date of our newest little one, I am panicking just thinking about nursing. I overproduce (usually, at least- my last was toungue tied and so my milk totally dried up for weeks), I have n*pples the size of wine corks (4 lactation consultants said they had never seen any like it- gee thanks )and I know I have D-MER.
Amy, Lisa, anyone else have tricks as to how to get through this? Dh was just commenting on how I am such a fidgety nurser, but with the 24/7 feeling of letdown, leaking, angry babies due to force of spray-and the crawling out of my skin feeling, well, it just is not peaceful...
TIA,

Oh Lisa, I wish I had some great advice!! Basically, all I did was suffer through it. I've been wondering lately (for other mental health issues in myself) if a healing Mass would be beneficial?
The one thing that *sort of* helped the awful black cloud let-down feeling was drinking water - either chugging a glass before sitting down or actively drinking (fast, little sips never seemed to do it) while nursing (which I found harder 'cause I needed both hands to nurse ). I'm not sure why this helped, maybe just distraction? I know a person should stay hydrated, but I can't imagine the relief would be instantaneous like that.
Anyway, if I come up with anything else I will post! Praying for you!

One more thought Lisa, have you ever talked to your doc about progesterone? I believe they are antagonists, meaning if you are over producing one you may need more of the other to stop it. Could progesterone supplementation possibly help? I know that's also supposed to help with the moods.
